"Go figure, hey? Years of preaching Libertarianism didn’t do the trick."

Amen to that. The end of that godless, globalist preaching can't possibly come too soon. (Let 'em go sell it to the Dems if they want. It's a way better fit.)

Folks who have ancestors that were here in Texas for many generations before my ancestors arrived AND those who are first generation Americans have no use for the sort of lawless failed government as exists in Mexico. South Texas is the proverbial canary in the coal mine, the disastrous effects of the wide open border are literally in their backyards. The Democrats only chance to win elections is by fraud.

A couple of apropos articles for those who are interested:

This is great to see. Many of us have known for a long time that Hispanics are closer to the Republicans in their values. The people who came here for the American Dream and to escape Socialism and Communism could end up saving this country (if the Republicans are smart enough to realize it and leverage it).

Well they may end up saving Texas at any rate.

It's interesting to see that Decepticon Abbott is trailing Allen West, a newcomer to Tx.

TD, I don't know if or to what extent your comments are a response to mine. But In light of your comments I wanted to clarify mine:

1) Yes, Hispanics are not monolithic. Some have come to the U.S. to escape Communism (the Cubans and Nicaraguans, in particular). Some have come for better economic opportunity and/or to escape Socialism (the Puerto Ricans and Venezuelans come to mind but to one extent or another likely all of them). Some have come to escape the tyranny and slavery and violence imposed by the narcos (in Mexico and Central America and Columbia). Some have been taken hostage and delivered here against their will.

2) The vast majority of the people the articles talk about in the RGV are second or third generation immigrants, who came in through legal processes - or their parents did; they are now citizens and now consider the U.S. their home. They agree with you about the border and that is why they are turning against the Biden admin and by extension the Dems now.

3) I am not (and I do not think these people are) arguing against a secure border and immigration processes in accordance with our laws. In fact that is what they are arguing FOR. They are being hurt on a daily basis by the failure of their own government to abide by its laws.

4) I couldn't agree more with you about the relationship between enforcing borders and national sovereignty. Also the confusion purposely constructed by Dems to conflate the notion of America the conceptual ideal and America the geographic entity.

My final and encompassing point is that ethnicity (especially in its deviations) does not automatically impute a whole universe of ideals or desires. Cultural practices and identification can certainly differentiate people but they do not in themselves proscribe overlapping beliefs and desires.

OK, thanks and sorry for any misunderstanding. Gave me a chance to clarify my remarks further, anyway. :)
