You know, The Russians and many commentators have been saying for a while that the S-400 was capable of defeating Stealth Tech. I guess they were not just pushing propaganda.
Well, the mask is definitely off. Israeli Ground forces are not performing well and the last vestige of Israeli combat superiority..."the Glorious Israeli air force".... sure looks weak. This is truly a watershed moment in history. Since the 1960's the Israelis have enjoyed the reputation of having one of the premier Armed Forces in the world. Not anymore.
The outcome of this air attack gives me about as much confidence in the F-35 as I had in the Dragon Anti-Tank weapon. Which was, none. That too was a piece of junk, that they kept in service for over 20-30 years.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to Netyanahu:
"We are without compass"
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant sent a secret letter to Netanyahu and cabinet ministers shortly before the Israeli attack on Iran, stating, among other things, that 'the war is being conducted without a compass'; Netanyahu's office described it as 'an unusual letter' – Channel 13
My belief is that what Gallant means is the antithesis known as True North.
Note: Substitute personal references with the State of Israel.
“True North is your inner sense, or your calling, of what you want to accomplish in your life. It's a combination of your values, your beliefs, and your purpose. It keeps you on a straight track that's true for you. And it's different for every single person. There's no two people for whom True North is the same.”
The F-35 cannot be safely flown in a thunderstorm as lightning fries the electronics inside the craft right through its composite (non metallic and non conductive skin).
Russia gets the military hardware that protects Russia; the U.S. gets the military equipment that makes the MIC very very rich. In America, competence and competent results are officially racist and anti DEI for the last 4 years, but have been in government for decades. We won’t know the issues in the military until events described above come to light but I have no doubt there are many.
Think about it. Russias military development of aircraft, air defense etc was not to pursue an aggressive posture but rather a defensive one. US on the other hand has military designs going with major corps eg Lockheed, Raytheon, Boeing et al to project an offensive or aggressor posture to MAINTAIN global world order hegemony. Where this attitude and approach has now been realized as less influential.
"Russia gets the military hardware that protects Russia; the U.S. gets the military equipment that makes the MIC very very rich."
The cost of a (custom fit) helmet for the pilot of an F-35 is $400,000!
How has Israel been able to afford F-35s:
"Lockheed Martin's F-35 Lightning II is the most expensive military fighter plane ever produced at US$109 million per craft plus $6.6 million in annual operational costs"
Did Israel purchase them + pilots' helmets, or did the US give these things to Israel?
The amount of money for all of these trappings of war is staggering.
Also note that the F35 is so complicated it can't be maintained by an airman. So contractors have to maintain them. The software is millions of lines of code that no one understands (except the contractor, supposedly). And to top it off, you need to have several in reserve for every one that is flying. The GAO has issued numerous reports on this boondoggle (https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-23-106047, https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-23-105341) to mostly deaf ears. We need to start beating our swords into plowshares by killing these ridiculously expensive programs.
Aytollah Khamenei ordered the army to prepare for retaliating against Israel
Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, has instructed the military to prepare a response 'as they see fit' – he said Iran must 'take the initiative', and show the enemy its power and resolve
At some point we knew manned stealth aircraft would be defeated. But the MIC continued to peddle these expensive albatrosses because they made for great profits. At over $100M a copy, and with a mission capable rate of 25%, each working airframe costs $400M. And our partners have bought these things in great numbers, with money loaned to them by Uncle Sam.
The AF has refused to recognize that the era of manned fighter jets is over. The life support systems are too expensive, and the pilot is too expensive to train. Missiles and drones are a better deal, but don’t make for sexy Top Gun type scenarios.
Our entire force structure needs a makeover. With the demise of the aircraft carrier and the battle tank what’s the MIC going to sell? All of this couldn’t come at a better time as the US is broke and has no money to invest in extravagant and ineffective wunderwaffe. Time to disengage and try a little diplomacy for a change.
The same thing happened in Europe with knights and longbows. The longbow essentially made knights expensive and vulnerable. But, because they were the sexy fly boys of their day it took the French decades to change course, Crecy 1346 to Agincourt 1415.
Now that Iran has this advantage, they could take out all of Israel's capabilities to keep bombing Gaza and Lebanon. Somebody has to stop US/Israel. Why not do it? Fear of Izz nukes / US reprisals?
Iran only needs to play the long game, which it is good at doing. Israel is a small country, and its residents don't want to have their livelihood constantly threatened with war and death. Israelis who can will leave rather than remain in a country in a perpetual state of war. Israel has nukes, which could be used against its opponents, at the cost of its own existence.
Bibi has one strategy - get the US involved in a war against Iran. He is trying hard. If Trump wins, despite his declared love for Israel, he may put Bibi on a short leash and explain the birds and the bees to him.
It would be a wonderful thing if Israel could somehow be stopped from murdering the desperate, starving people in Gaza. I just read the following Jerusalem Dispatch from The Middle East Eye:
As expected, Israeli boosters were found in Iraq and Syria, from where the IDF exclusively launches their attacks on Iran. **The IDF planes do not dare go anywhere within 100-200km of Iranian border because even the F-35s are easily detected by Iranian/Russian radars**
The Greatest Impact The Greatest Accomplishment
I read Saud already meeting with Russia and it appears clear
US Arm Sales will decline devastating for many reasons
among them: Politically but also to US economy
EG: US sales to Saud kept Saud reliant on US
US made a bundle of money
So initially you had the impact/proof of Ukraine
put a big chink in the US reputation
I actually was surprised sales were not more greatly impacted long ago
Now you have Israel
Few have reason to purchase US weapons
RU:
Less expensive
Equal and arguably much greater quality
Faster production

In French, “perdre le nord,” to lose the north, means to lose your way. Smart man, Gallant.

You the taxpayer subsidized the Israeli discount. Wink wink.
It is way past time for TUPE*. . . my acronym of the day.
*Termination of Useless Pentagon Expenditures.
First on the TUPE list is the entire F-35 program, scrap 'em, ends all of the continued wasted $$$.
You must have read this. https://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-rally-elon-musk-save-department-government-efficiency-2024-10
A goodie! How about terminating useless pentagon personnel as well?

Hopefully it's saber rattling. Israel needs to come to the table and come to terms with the reality of the world as it really is.
Of course he’s going to respond this way. Huff Puff Fluff.

Sounds like F-35/stealth technology is the modern equivalent of the emperor's new clothes?

Iran’s gonna sit this out for awhile unless Israel goes after its diplomats or friendly heads of states or similar.
They will saber rattle Israel about Hamas and Hezbollah but their leadership is gone. IMO.
