And we wonder why there is inflation chewing up the middle class and impoverishing the poor even further. It's the standard game plan of the political class as demonstrated by years of ruinous policies advocated by the Democrats. Indoctrinate the kids get them convinced socialist health policy and climate change are necessary to save democracy and the environment and it's off to the races for the politically connected corruption where the benefits accrue only to the fraudsters who have connections to government handouts and it rolls down stream to every favorite NGO and non-profit where productivity and growth goes to die.

I've long thought about government efficiency. For food inspections, I think that could be contracted out to neutral, third party inspectors. There'd have to be oversight and mechanisms in place to ensure honest services rendered.

That's just one example.

First the oversight has to be honest. It usually isn't.

That's true. Oversight does have to be honest. We've seen that government oversight can be corrupted.

The accounting profession does a good job of policing its own. Perhaps that can be replicated.

Vivek states, "On Day 1, *instantly* fire 50% of federal bureaucrats.

Here’s how: if your SSN ends in an odd number, you’re fired.

That downsizes government by half. Absolutely *nothing* will break as a result.

It doesn’t violate civil service rules because mass layoffs are exempt.

SHUT IT DOWN."

Being a retired federal employee who went through a reduction in force (RIF), I have to say that there are bump and retreat rights. Maybe they exist by regulation, not statute. I don't know.

I wish them well. I also know there'll be a lot of litigation if it's not done correctly.

Department of Government Efficiency, kind of an oxymoron. Normally I'd want to know, Where is Jim Hacker when we need him to be Efficiency Supremo, but Elon is more of a serious person.

I find the acronym rather interesting....DOGE. Doge conjures up the image of the Doge's of Venice. The Doge of Venice acted as both the head of state and head of the Venetian oligarchy. Hmmmm. Doges were elected for life through a complex voting process.

Mark,

What do you expect?

I've been a one issue voter for 4 years.

Break the backs of the LAWFARIANS and move on.

Let JD Vance clean it up in 2028.

The Inflation Reduction Act was so partisanly lopsided because it was passed as tax reconciliation (between the house and senate) that could not be filibustered. It can be undone the same way, so it is a fat, juicy, early target.

I've read a bit about Elon, he was a big factor on the ground in Pennsylvania. He has educated himself about the Amish. His explanation for backing Trump is that he doesn't want the US to fail, that it will fail if it has only one functioning political party, ie democrats. And with democrats controlling everything--institutions, education, entertainment, judges. (In NY City, judges are "elected" but they're all democrats. There's no choice). Not that this is new information, but I was nevertheless happy to hear it from someone with a microphone. As to Vivek, he's a longtime pal of Jared. I have no use for him whatsoever. Elon, this is your moment.

Vivek will dig in. Just watch. The only thing that could sidetrack him is the seat now held by Vance.

"Just watch?" You could pay me a million dollars and I'd still have no interest in "watching"

a slimy chameleon who's where he is today solely because he's a longtime pal of Jared's.
