The US war on Russian in Ukraine continues. Recently Russian advances near the key city of Avdeyevka (Anglicizations vary, Ukrainian = Avdiivka) have accelerated to the point that some analysts are saying Russia has achieved a “breakthrough”. Avdeyevka is important for two reasons. First, it’s a key strongpoint or fortified city in the Ukrainian lines, being a communications and transport crossroads; second, it’s a psychological point because it’s the location from which Ukraine has been shelling Donetsk City since 2014. I’ve pasted in a sitrep that I lifted from Geroman, who got it from Slavyangrad. Alexander Mercoursis of The Duran—who follows the fighting very closely—regards Slavyangrad as a reliable source. In characterizing Russia progress as “breakthrough,” we are reminded of the breakthrough at Soledar, which led to the fall of Bakhmut:
