Yesterday in The Russian Way Of War I indicated that I wasn’t fully on board with Sundance’s hair’s-on-fire post that WW3 was no longer an “if” but a “when”. At the same time, I wrote: if enough tripwires are set, things can go: Boom! and listed the various new tripwires that were being set. Tripwires are worrisome things—no doubt about it. What was most worrisome about those moves that were announced yesterday was that they confirmed that the same “delusional foreign policymaking elite that ignores real constraints on American power” that got us in this bind is still in control of the levers of power.
"DoD says delivering hypersonic weapons remains a top priority for them. They are confident to be on track to field offensive and defensive hypersonic capabilities on target dates beginning in the early 2020s."
300K member military to confront Russia's western flank. Wow. How incredible. and I read somewhere today we have 27 days of strategic petroleum reserves available now. We are so full of ourselves its criminal. Makes me think a song is in order...
Puff the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee
Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Puff
And brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff
Oh, Puff the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee
Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail
Jackie kept a lookout perched on Puff's gigantic tail
Noble kings and princes would bow whene'er they came
Pirate ships would lower their flags when Puff roared out his name
Oh, Puff the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee
A dragon lives forever, but not so little boys
Painted wings and giant's rings make way for other toys
One gray night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And Puff, that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar
His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain
Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane
Without his lifelong friend, Puff could not be brave
So Puff, that mighty dragon, sadly slipped into his cave
Oh, Puff the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee
We are led by buffoons for whom ideology and propaganda are substitutes for reality. We should declare victory and pull out of this quagmire. Mission accomplished!
'NATO is just a shadow of its former self.' Obama enlisted NATO to assist his goals in Libya. Obama used NATO to help bomb Libya until NATO ran out of bombs. Washington Post April 15, 2011 "NATO runs short on some munitions in Libya". That NATO was used to fight a third world country, one which had not attacked a NATO member, indicated then that NATO was rudderless. Nothing has changed since. NATO is like the UN in that it's a debating club that never resolves anything.
Being completely unprepared for war never stopped America, France or England from declaring war in the past. Just look at WW2.
All the counties have substantially larger populations than 80 years ago, but no one is going to rush to enlist. Maybe if we get get all the soyboys and girls that put a Ukraine flag up on their social media to enlist, the Russians could do us a huge favor.
Our leaders are disconnected from reality and have no fear of the consequences of failure.
I just hope they have just enough sense to not openly fight. Half the Canadian Army may be in Ukraine right now as mercs but at least it is not open conflict, I guess.
Stand Down: WW3 Probably Won't Start Tomorrow

It won't be long before we're in the mid 2020s.
WW3 starts when Turkey allows a carrier group through the Bosphorus. Behind the scenes wheels are in motion.
The only place the sea powers have an advantage over the world island is in the waters of the Black Sea.
