The Bruen decision came out today, and to no one’s surprise—except that of Kathy Hochul—the result was a 6-3 SCOTUS opinion that upheld the Second Amendment’s core guarantee of the right to keep and bear arms.
I guess we now have Big Law to add to the list of miscreants ser on fleecing the American citizen of his/her constitutional rights. Funny how the Dems creed just does not hold water: on the one hand they want to deprive law-abiding citizens of their 2A rights while otoh they let hundreds die every year in the big cities from…gun crime!!!
An SC win is a bad thing nowadays, at least to certain prominent law firms. Kirkland & Ellis is going through a transition of some sort, translegalism or what?
Ann I am Amer/Canadian. I hope this ruling will have a spill-over effect in Canada. Better yet, I hope we have a federal election soon. Our atmosphere is changing on it’s own. Gun control is just one issue.
You have a point, KLG. We could have a long discussion/ squabble. I left the US many years ago in search of a more peaceful country. Re the pandemic, you are quite right - it was insanity. My sense is that that was the last straw, putting the truckers’ convoy first.
The SCOTUS is too fragile and malleable an entity to trust our rights with in this era of outright anarchy. A couple assassinations or unexplained deaths and we may be right back to the government telling us what weapons we can own or purchase. Something tells me that the new 'Red Flag laws' about to be passed without debate will be before this same court in the future - but what will the make-up of the court be then? You know the left will be out for blood, especially if the Dobbs case strikes down Roe.
If you like your firearms, you can keep your firearms. As long as nobody thinks you need to give those firearms up for a year or two while your 'due process rights' are adjudicated. And by the way: we're gonna need you to go ahead and provide the list of your weapons so we can put them in a federal registry.
Ah, the sweet smell of liberty (as doled out by the thimble full by SCOTUS).

I would expect a flurry of lawsuits in gun control states targeting things like fees and mag size.

THANKS a lot to my senior Senator, the despicable John Corny . . .
