King Osric, holding a jeweled dagger:

"Do you see this? They call it 'The Fangs of the Serpent.'

And this one was thrust into a father's heart by his very son.

And my own daughter has fallen under this Thulsa Doom's spell.

Is there a dagger such as this in her hand for me?"

Did Psaki just justify the killing of Ukrainian citizens by Ukrainians in order to " defend the unity of the country?!"

Is this the new "rule?" Is there a dagger such as this in her hand for me?

Libya mess is one of those rule based messes I don’t understand the real reason why. Mark’s comment about Libya being a threat to the Euro Dollar was thought provoking.

Somebody with a similar idea:

Rule-based order is a replacement for archaic, inflexible national schemes such as republics and constitutions. The move to treaties such as the TPP overrides law without having to amend the constitutions, courts and legislative bodies.

Re: The Fed and Luongo, I don't profess to understand this completely, but Richard Werner has maintained consistently that raising interest rates does not affect inflation. The two money systems are independent. It is all in the credit creation where the health and soundness of the economy is determined we as conservatives should find this quite easy to accept. Banks create money ( expand the money supply) by making loans. Werner maintains that what keeps getting overlooked (purposely?) in how Banks are regulated is controlling the nature of the loans (credit/money creation) the bank is making, that is there are good or healthy kinds of credit creation, and poor or unhealthy kinds of credit creation, and we should be regulating /encouraging Banks to make "healthy" loans and discourage them (or maybe just don't bail them out to the tune of billions) from making unhealthy loans. Werner suggests that loans that go to individuals or businesses for productive purposes , ie a loan to buy a new piece of equipment or a new technology which will be used to increase production / grow the business or start a business. He suggests that on the other hand loans that go to what he calls unproductive purposes ie to you or me so we can buy a boat , or to Blackrock so it can buy stock or suburban real estate or businesses (ie "assets") only serve to inflate the market in which those asset purchases are made even to the point of creating bubbles. Think stock market bubbles, the housing bubble etc... Werner further suggests that an economy can escape or correct for the effect of bad bank behavior (lots and lots of loans for asset purchases) by engaging or encouraging good bank behavior (lots and lots of good loans for productive purposes). He then goes on to explain that the history of banking and economies suggest that the best way for a nation to ensure that it's Banks are making a preponderance of good loans is to have a large number of local banks who deal with the local businesses, versus having only a small number of very large banks (or only one central bank) who are not close to the community business or are corrupt in other ways ( for example cronyism). CBDC and the centralizing of banking in large central banks is to Werner following the Soviet model of which we already have empirical evidence from the actual Soviet economy that such a model immiserates the economy). I think that Werner makes the case that the Fed could simply buy all the bad loans from banks to firm up the banks, but the way to stop inflation and improve the economy is to promote and achieve more and more good bank credit creation and regulate the banks credit creation (loan) activities.

C'mon Mark, Rule-based law occurs when my dog poops in my yard. Rewarded with a "good boy". International law occurs when my dog poop's in my neighbor's yard reward with a treat.

Love the critical thinking aspects here. ;>)

Rules, law, order, international...

I have to admit, the only thing I really latched on to was the administration spokesperson declaring that it's ok for the government to shoot its citizens for the sake of national unity.

I think the entire purpose of the movie As Good As It Gets was the opportunity to say the line about writing female characters. In the same vein, I now wonder if the point of the Ukraine war response is to get us comfortable with our pending murders.

The Ruling Elite--those with the most money and who are the most woke--will tell us what those distinctive values and norms are. Anti-humanism now ranks high up there.
