Reports are worth the paper they're printed on. Unless something comes of this - indictments - it's all just expensive theater.

Serious question: Does the FBI just laugh off these drops by Durham? Does the leadership go "pfft," which seems a hell of a lot more plausible than them saying, "Wow, these are serious allegations with extremely troubling implications!" They have full cover from the executive branch and the media, so just another day at the office?

Hard to say at this distance. Their biggest concern is probably whistleblowers.

Do I understand correctly that the excuses that the FBI was fooled by Clinton and they were tricked into it?

Trump is going to have a field day with this report. He is now clearly the white hat wearer in contrast to the black hat wearing FBI and CIA thugs who tried to bring him down. And with Jim Jordan bringing Durham in next week for questioning the bonfire will keep burning - but don't look for the co-conspirator MSM to cover any of it. And the kicker is that Biden and Obama were briefed from the beginning of the op.

Wouldn't it be 'loverly' if Jordan would subpoena Barr! Yes, I know it will never happen, but his public conduct since he left as Trump's AG has been so disappointing. No, not disappointing, it was infuriating.

That would be a real test for Jordan, wouldn't it?

Expand full comment

Yes. Jordan's been stalwart since Comey released the disgusting details to Trump and then the world. I never saw him waver (though to be honest, I got to where I couldn't watch much news, though I do remember seeing Jordan defending Trump on television many times. Hopefully he won't waver, though maybe he would think going after Barr would be a worthless endeavor and not worthy of the time and effort. ::shrug:: But I can still dream, can't I?!!! :)

Yesterday, President Biden announced Dr. Monica Bertagnolli as his intended nominee for Director of the NIH. Guess what? From 2015-2021, Bertagnolli received more than 116 grants from Pfizer, totaling $290.8 million. This amount made up 89% of all her. research grants.

Emerald Robinson says that she knew the Durham Report was a hoax all the way back in 2020. Maybe somebody wants to attend her "subscribers chat" this evening and summarize? I'll be busy.

It’s just her way of saying she’s still pissed off about the whole thing. Maturity isn’t her strong suit.

I'm new to Emerald, and don't have much patience for video. She hasn't yet crossed my "worth paying for" threshold yet, but of what I've seen so far I appreciate both her and Brian Cates for calling it like they see it, re the GOP leadership and affiliated media. We're going nowhere until we get our house in order, if there's any "we" at all.

Anyway, I read Tamsin's link and I think I'll go with "beneficially skeptical" for now. I'll have time to cultivate a taste for maturity in pundits when I'm old.

I'm in my early 80's, and I haven't quit having my tantrums about the 'news' since before the '12th of Never' -- the media and now our government's political antics are infuriating.

Not a subscriber, but I know Emerald has been beneficially skeptical for a long time, e.g. with this look-back from September 2021:

Bluto Benedict Barr: essence of our problem, essence of a swamp-soaked careerist. Should have become PDJT's "wing-man", instead a Trojan Horse, a Brutus. So keen was he to protect institutional reputations, he was more than willing to put his full energies into providing the power of the federal DOJ/deep-state as air cover and actively drive a them/just-us double standard so as to 'spare' the nation the burden of learning how criminal & corrupt big gov't/media has become. They all knew what they were doing from the beginning: it will not be possible to forgive these Judases on that score. No illusions this is the culmination of decades of collusive drift. That is why the fixes need to be bold, wide, deep, striking; the transparency shockingly open (past national security objections).

Devin Nunes: It's only got worse after 2017. This changed history. This changed our whole relationship to government (paraphrasing).

BTW: Nunes also has some trenchant observations re Brennan as a liar. And yet ... remember that Durham and Barr interviewed Brennan and cleared him. Or something. Maybe they got the truth from Brennan and simply buried it.

Alex Christoforou goes there, too. He points out how active Ukrainian oligarchs and gov were in the effort to smear Trump. He ties it directly to the planned war on Russia.

Repeat: Do NOT be fooled by the BS narrative that this was only about Hillary's email problem.

Absolutely. Those Ukies infested HRC’s campaign (I think discussed in a realclear investigation by Paul Sperry himself)…oh yeah, the Ukr/RF web was being woven…talk about “foreign interference “ LOL

Oh, good lawd, when I read your last sentence I almost laughed. Well, I admit, I did sort of chuckle. Don't want to be hard or hateful, but this entire Hillary-Russia plot and how it exposed our government's "scumbaggery*" has made cynics of most of us.

*I just watched Nunes' interview someone posted and heard him call them 'scumbags' and thought it was totally appropriate. Sort of reminded me of Trump calling that CNN chick in white 'a nasty person' during the townhall a few days ago.

Earlier someone said or posted they didn't trust a word of news or anything our government says (maybe it was Nunes), but I've read it over and over on comments everywhere, and I totally agree. I do not believe a word they say.

That’s a repeated narrative pivot

Things seem to be moving quickly now.

The Durham report largely absolved President Trump, and should give his candidacy a big boost

. The left and the main stream media, academics, etc. will cover it, with a sheet, and the American people will remain largely uninformed.

when President Trump says “the election was fixed“ there is now much credibility to that statement. But, as Hillary once said “what does it matter“. Maybe Bidens poll numbers will be affected? Debatable.

Fox news babbles “there must be accountability“.

But we citizens observe that there is no one except ourselves to be accountable to. who do you go to enforce accountability? The Government?

Virtually everyone in our government leadership is corrupt. Clearly, the FBI, the justice department, Democrat party, the Senate. Etc. Rhinos too.

Who can be trusted to deal with the corruption we now can see before us.

Answer: nobody, therefore, ignore it, and it will go away, and we will be back to the status quo. All good! Maybe so.

It comes down to the huge soapbox that has been given to President Trump, upon which he can stand and proclaim the truth. Will he?

Expand full comment

Not only does this give Trump a soapbox, but it also provides a solid line of attack against the continuing efforts to remove him from the political world, e.g., the special counsel investigating the 'classified' documents in the Mar-a-Lago raid. Trump should frame it as part of an ongoing plot against him by the black hats in DOJ/FBI/CIA. Offense is sometimes the best defense.

True. The report may help Trump get a more sympathetic hearing in court, on appeal.

I read that and thought it was one of CTH's better posts on the subject. I'm planning to reference that post and comment further because--back in the day--I wrote extensively on that topic with particular attention to a point that CTH skips over for some reason. But it's a good post nevertheless.
