"... the countries that looted and pillaged Russia."

Good joke. It was Russia, under Stalin, who looted and pillaged other countries while keeping the gulags stuffed full for such projects as the White Sea Canal. There never was much to loot and pillage from Russia anyway but minerals. Meanwhile Russia looted and pillaged Ukraine in the early 1930's of all her grain, starving up to ten million people.

Are you a Russian mouthpiece? No problem if you're honest, but dishonesty won't cut it. Russian predations are too well and widely known. The criminal Communist system favored criminals over ordinary honest citizens, so that bully boys and psychotics such as Beria, Yezhov, Djerdjinski et al dominated the decent people. And that's a shame because Russians are naturally warm, friendly, and open people by nature.

Apples and oranges. Everything you say is true of the communist SOVIET UNION in the 1930s. Russia is not the Soviet Union. The latter was an ideologically based project under which Russians and Russia suffered no less than any other captive nation.

The phrase you quote refers to POST-soviet Russia in the 1990s, during which time western financial and political interests indeed descended like vultures on what was essentially a defeated nation, just like they have done in Ukraine since 2014. After WWII, we treated the defeated Germany and Japan far better.

It might be that it works as described, and they are committing war crimes.

Both conditions can be true.

That's not giving a pass to Putin.

Thanks for this article.

Let me get this straight. He shot a missile that can go 7000 mph at a target 80 miles away? Well, we still don't know how well it works because it could only have been in the air a few seconds. The message it sent was "this is a perfect example of why I am losing the war."

Expand full comment

80 miles? It was launched from the Black Sea, some 400+ miles away.

It doesn't make any difference. It was a demo. As such, it was a waste, they are down one dagger with little to show for it. Damage to the base could be cleaned up in a day by some CBs. The little missile that could is gone. Ask yourself, what could prompt him to do something so foolishly devoid of tactical or strategic advantage? Nothing. There is no military utility. Also, now we have an idea about their launch parameters. The missile isn't any good if its mothership gets shot down.

Fine. But if you don’t get basic facts straight, why should I pay attention to anything else you say?

Nothing but water carrying for Putin and his gang of thugs. Transparently stupid.

Not comforting news! I have also read that Putin may have upwards of 20,000 tactical nukes. If one day he decides to take out several key American Cities, America’s days as a superpower would be over. Of course under Brandon that day will come soon enough whether we get nuked or not.

Expand full comment

Tactical nukes are not, apparently, what you think they are. They are small, battlefield nukes not designed to lay cities desolate.

Expand full comment

I know that. But he also has the nukes that can lay cities desolate. And Russia has claimed they used their hypersonic missle to blow up a Ukrainian weapons underground storage site. But I’m sure Brandon has everything under control🙈

Very true. So what are we to make of that? People threaten with what they fear the most. Your post seemed to exhibit some confusion between the use of tactical and strategic nukes.

And we would create Lake Moscow. Wide, deep and hot.

It also sends the signal missile defenses won’t work in the Ukraine. There was some noise in sending Czech S300 to Ukraine.

Expand full comment

What are you talking about? the S300 are primarily anti aircraft missiles. Any time the Russians shoot one of them it does nothing but deplete their inventory. You don't waste an expensive hypersonic missile on a country a inch away. Very childish.

Expand full comment

Last i checked this hypersonic missile is launched via aircraft. MIG 31 or similar.

Depending on the version, the S300 has some anti missile capabilities.

This is a modern day Cuban Missile Crisis. However, unlike back then, there are no serious, reasonably well balanced leaders in the White House trying to scale this back. The maniacs in DC will cheer lead us into a generalised war if they are not dealt with.

Explain yourself. Biden can't escalate himself up a flight of stairs. Point to anything Biden has done to escalate anything. Quit making things up.

It didn't escalate a thing. "Probe with bayonets. Where you find mush proceed, where you find steel, withdraw." V. I. Lenin.

Look, Captain Mush, you can't surrender your way out of trouble. It just invites more aggression. When you invite aggression, you are escalating by omission. Also, just so you know, you aren't fooling anybody.

Look, Mr. Anachronism, who’s fooling whom? What the hell does a quote from Lenin have to do with the present situation?

Expand full comment

Well, I'll type slower. I'm assuming you know who Lenin is. If you don't, then look him up. Think a moment. Do you realize that the present moment is the result of past moments? It didn't just arise like mushrooms after a warm rain. Most people know that, its one of the things that sets us apart from dogs. Present moments only have meaning within the embrace of the past. I believe most readers were stupefied by your response. You know that Putin was born before Stalin died? He's a communist and a follower of Lenin. Consequently, Lenin's famous aphorism to both Putin and every other communist who lived after Lenin said it. And, that, Sloopie, is why that quote is relevant to the present situation. One supposes you are a supporter of President Mush?
