What is desperately needed to make real progress against the political establishment? A war against bureaucratic and judicial mis / dis / mal feasance and mis / dis / mal administration would do quite nicely, followed by a bureaucrat cleansing. This job would be best accomplished by a man who descends from Genghis Khan, there are literally millions of candidates to choose from.
Yes, much-aligned by the execrable, corrupt affirmative action biotch, Kim Gardner. Also maligned by inveterate scumbags Karl Rove and Mitch McConnell who talked Greitens' ex-wife into accusing him of abuse. The last minute character assassination worked (Harry Reid, "he wasn't elected, was he?").
I don’t think anything will top the Supreme Court’s last term, where Roe v. Wade was overturned in favor of the Dobbs decision. Still, the fairly new conservative block on the court may just be getting started.
Wailing and gnashing of teeth commenced on Tuesday during oral arguments over whether college admissions can discriminate on the bias of race, i.e. affirmative action. All of the conservative justices expressed deep skepticism of the legality of such schemes.
One of the little-spoken facts about Justice Kentaji Brown Jackson is that she’s just not an impressive jurist. ...
Meanwhile, Justice Sonia Sotomayor continues to do Sotomayor things. ... [i.e., confuses de jure with de facto--duh!]
My major reservation abt the Supremes has been their reluctance to address election irregularities. Believe me...I get concepts such as 'standing', 'mootness' , 'states' rights', and 'case or controversy' but I was hopeful that some of the cases would overcome these obstacles. I liked the arguments made by the Texas AG in Texas v. Pennsylvania...
Like so many of us, I naively thought that the creation of the DHS was necessary for the “War on Terrorism.” But I also felt that the very name “Homeland Security” was an odd duck among American political or institutional jargon. Even then it sounded vaguely Orwellian.
It was set up to protect us, right? Americans, right? But pretty soon every Scots Irish grandma gets strip-searched by a scanner, or patted down in her wheelchair, so that no Middle Eastern man visiting this country could be treated any differently than an American. We are all Middle Eastern men now. From inside the Beltway, there's no reason to close the southern border.
Anecdotal to your comment regarding patting down grandma in her chair. I was flying out of Philadelphia's airport several years ago and while waiting at the gate to board my flight TSA did a random spot check and the crew doing the gate check were all black personnel and they only singled out, get this, white men and women, military personal that were white (the blacks in the group were excluded) and avoided all Middle Eastern passengers. I was stunned at the obvious discrimination and stupidity of this action.
Jonathan Turley re Twitter and Musk's thought of charging Blue Checks:
for full disclosure, I would first have to get a blue check to get charged for a blue check. I have been barred from being verified for years by Twitter despite being a columnist for newspapers like USA Today and the Hill as well as a legal analyst for CBS, NBC, BBC, and now Fox over the last two decades. I have been ranked in the top five law professors on Twitter, but I was still turned me down over a dozen times under multiple categories.
So here is a proposal from the great unwashed and unverified. Open up the digital files on both the censorship and verification decisions under the prior management. What these pundits most fear is exposure of how Twitter was used as a Clausewitzian corporation for the continuation of politics with other means. Open the files and customers will open their wallets.
1) Your "verify" bona fides are top tier. What an absolute, yet wholly according-to-script, crock it is they've denied you. Bet you never dreamed for a second you'd be pegged as a high-level national security threat by the national powers that be, did you?
2) For sure they should open up the files on the decisions you suggest. And every other damn thing they've kept from the public with zero innocent motives or explanation.
3) "Open the files and customers will open their wallets." Yes, exactly!!
Mark, I’m interested in your theory as to why the Deep State/Cathedral allowed Elon to actually take ownership of Twitter. Not only have they lost their key censor/narrative shaper, but he—according to Twitter’s own terms of service—now owns all of the Twitter DM’s emails the government and DNC have sent over the years conspiring to censor info and shape narratives on the Dems behalf.
How could they let their dirty tricks be exposed like this? Is it the lack of a central direction and guidance to stop this due to Biden’s dementia, as you’ve hinted at? A failure to recognize the importance of that asset they’ve now lost and what a liability it could become? Or did they destroy all the evidence before handing the keys over to Elon, and have a secret evil plan to neutralize and replace based Twitter?
Their actions have become less and less explicable. They continue to press bizarre conspiracy theories on me, like Russia rigged the 2016 election and is brainwashing me via social media, but they have ceased trying to prove any of it in the court of public opinion and are now giving up their biggest weapon. It’s like a chess opponent who trades a Queen for a Knight—they can’t really be that stupid?
Maybe Musk is like Putin. The DS thought they were taking on someone they could slap around and destroy like Alex Jones or Gadafi. They again picked on the wrong person.
Well they cannot try to block it anymore with a last minute hail mary. All my shares in my brokerage and IRA accounts were cashed out for $54.20/share sometime during after hours trading between last night and opening bell this morning. Apparently every other retail investor has been cashed out as well--the company is now private, with Musk as the sole Officer and Director.
If your take is correct--and they are more often than they are not--then the Deep State is very afraid of Elon's lawyers.
The Missouri Attorney General is Eric Schmitt - not Gretians.

Just an editorial comment. Missouri's AG is Schmitt who is running for the U.S. Senate. Greitens was the much-maligned former governor.

Karl and Mitch, two prominent inveterate invertebrates, also known as garden slugs, real slimy characters.

So a "sotomayor" is when you say something that should have been said "sotto voce" in "maggiore voce". And I will let the door hit me on the way out.
"confuses de jure with de facto"
Yep. And then pronounces "de jure" as "de jour."
Heaven help us.
Like so many of us, I naively thought that the creation of the DHS was necessary for the “War on Terrorism.” But I also felt that the very name “Homeland Security” was an odd duck among American political or institutional jargon. Even then it sounded vaguely Orwellian.
Yes. As though there was a Homeland.

The TSA is as awesome as most DMV’s.
I loathe those body scanners. That and their public humiliation ritual of the pat down too. Ridiculous performance theatre all of it.
So much evil done by the Bush family.
I thought it was a way to create a more efficient structure, sigh. Instead it created a monster.
And, again, a GOPe/Neocon creation.
No, this was fully Neocon and Penthouse Bolsheviks all the way, GOPe was paid not to interfere.

I don’t think they expected him to actually go through with the purchase, but thought they could just bleed him a bit.
Nice October Surprise!
We still have law and courts. And Musk has huge amounts of money to pay top lawyers.
