I’m amazed at the size of the protests in LA.

Marching on the freeway!

And attacking cars that don’t agree with you. Wow.

Predictable--disruptive protests in large blue cities where the laws aren't about to change. It's about crazies making life miserable for normals. This is good. It may lead to more normals voting.

Stunning lack of self-awareness. These two clowns should have been removed from office by now and should be forbidden from ever talking about human rights or liberty again. Their eructations about such are meaningless.

The evidence is already out there of the Dem's leading with the "fear factor" clause. Pelosi, Zhou, Schumer and all the MSM pundits.

What I want to know is how soon is the "leaker" identified, drawn, and quartered?

There is an unfortunate character trait among Conservatives that makes us hesitant to accept the good without contemplating the potential bad and/or over analyzing implications. I implore you good people not to fall into that trap today. This is a GREAT day - IMO the greatest single day in the political life of the U.S. during my lifetime (which began during the Eisenhower administration).

On this day, mourn for the 70 Million but rejoice for the untold Millions that now have a chance at life. Mourn for the sins of our country but rejoice for our repentance and a chance at national redemption through contrition and the opportunity God has given us to change our ways. Thank the Supreme Court justices for their courage and wisdom and steadfast adherence to the Constitution (in this case but not only in this case). Thank Donald Trump for his judicial nominations, which he held to in the face of all criticism and political fallout. Most of all, thank God for his blessings and mercy and forgiveness and justice - and pray that our nation would recognize such and act according to it. Thank you.

I disagree. 'Trump' is a brand name, and he has learned to exploit it. He promised in December 2020 to restore integrity to our electoral process, without which we haven't got a Country, and he hasn't given up. What you regard as narcissism I see as a reminder that the important work is yet to be done.

Trump is fighting in the primaries to get a MAGA slate in, and the establishment Republicans are mostly fighting him on this.

@Rascal

I agree. Its Trump's Achilles Heel.

But, I also believe that in some strange way that Trump's flaws are an integral part of his greatness. Or, putting it another way, if Trump were not flawed he could not be great. His courage in calling out the falsehoods, hypocrisies and wrong-headedness of the Left is grounded in and depends upon his sometimes (often?) off-putting ego and narcissism.

I disagree. This does broaden his appeal, maybe not with the refined and intellectual, but he seems to do all right with the masses. He has the common touch, maybe too common for you.

@perle

I actually think you two agree with each other.

Which is an important thing to remember. We can't let quibbles divide us, especially when the Left (which ranges across the spectrum from Biden and Mrs Clinton to AOC and Bernie) is solidly anti-conservative.

You won't ever find 14 Dem Senators breaking ranks to vote for some McConnell-sponsored bill.

We probably do disagree. I hold that Trump adds to his general appeal by being combative and in your face, and it may even be calculated for his chosen audience. Others would prefer someone more Presidential in demeanor. Other than that we probably do agree

I recall a conversation I had with a conservative friend of mine not long after Trump's election. He was going over all the wonderful things that would now be accomplished, and I said to him "They won't go quietly, if they can be made to go at all." I knew the "Resistance" wasn't done, though if you had told me the form it was going to take I would have thought you mad.

I will repeat my long ago caution to all of you. In fact, I will go full Denethor (Although I will not set myself on fire.) "You may triumph in the Supreme Court for today but against the power that is risen there is no victory." Not at the Court anyway. Decisions that go against the Regime will simply be ignored, and neither the Republican Congress nor the Leftist dominated Executive branch will enforce them, or even try.

We should know by now that the constitution is only a piece of paper if there is no will to defend it. The same goes for any court decision.

I'm sure its been noted, but its interesting that they ruled on 2nd Amendment... first.

The idea and the reality of community existed long before the rule of law or courts. The point of community was the preservation of life and that required the preservation of the community.

Killing the very life of the community certainly went against the grain of tradition and history.

A good day.

But I predict abortions will increase as a result.

To say nothing of the grotesqueries that will arise out of places like California.

"But I predict abortions will increase as a result."

The NYT is already on the case:

And if these NYT opinion authors are correct, the impact of Dobbs on abortions may be limited. But even if it is, the value of Dobbs, in re-introducing a disciplined constitutional jurisprudence to the Supreme Court and creating a substantial foundation for a reemergent federalism is...enormous.

But we must not kid ourselves: nearly every country and every age is implicated in this wickedness.

Oh, I know...it was a joke.

But I would contend that they're only partially subject to the whims of the electorate. More than anything, they've become creatures of the party machine and all that entails for funding and influence - as you say, out of state funding.

Also, as we've learned to our chagrin, it's easier to steal Senate seats than House seats.
