Poland missed a golden opportunity post the break up of the USSR, namely the chance to forge a relationship with the former Warsaw Pact along the lines of the Intermarium they proposed after WWI.
A different political arrangement respecting everyone's sovereignty would have been required, but the basic concept of a neutral block of countries standing between the west and east might have avoided the current conflict, plus provided a trade route from the Black Sea to Europe, plus mutual economic assistance to counter the challenges of competing in the European markets. A common currency might also have been a possibility.
Instead they all went the NATO route which was bound to cause problems eventually. No foresight, just politicians following their own self-interest rather than national interests. Nothing new there I suppose.
Another observation. If you look at the conflicts over the last few decades, starting with Afghanistan, and including Georgia, Armenia/Azerbaijan and of course Iran, they're all important points along the southern route of China's new silk road, and Odessa would have become a major port of entry under that arrangement. That can't be a coincidence can it?
I couldn't agree more. I'm totally flummoxed by the Poles' utterly self destructive behavior since the Smolensk tragedy. Putin persistently held out the hand of friendship and the Poles--in defiance of all reason--opted to throw their lot in with the Neocons. 'Baffling' hardly begins to describe this.
It truly boggles the mind, the absurd things that the United States and England are doing to Europe and they just bow down to this. So the EU is going to go along with having oil and natural gas shut off to it. You have winter coming up the economy needs the energy and yet they’re going to cut all the supplies remaining off and accomplish. What actually other than total misery for all the people in central and south Europe. it’s like yesterday when I saw the stock chart for Krupp industries in the negative. So the European countries are ready to commit economic suicide for their masters. This is all gonna blow up and it’s gonna be bad.
There were reports a few weeks ago that Russia was ready to send serious anti-ship missiles to the Houthis, but that the US "begged" Putin not to do that. Note that the US is keeping its carriers away from Yemen for the time being.
I have my doubts that the US planned the Kursk invasion. It seems more like a British operation to me, and I've heard some talk to that effect. Britain still imagines they're a player, and to some degree that's true, but they punch way above their weight these days. Also true is that they've had the knives out for Russia since at least the Crimean war, their eternal plan being to keep Germany and Russia apart. I guess we'll know soon enough, especially if Russia trots out some captured UK 'mercenaries.'
If things do escalate, I expect British, not US assets to be hit first. That avoids the obvious problem of direct conflict between the USA and Russia, puts Britain in its place (finally) and would also create a division in US opinion as to whether they want to be dragged into further conflict by the lunatics in Westminster, who by comparison make DC look like rational actors.
I don't doubt heavy Brit involvement, but by all accounts CIA is pretty much in charge of the entire Ukraine operation. A pretty clear signal of that was the CIA AD making public statements about Kursk just the other day that seemed to show CIA ownership. I can't believe that Ukraine and the Brits are doing things behind the back of CIA.
I think a strong argument could be made that the constant warfare in Europe--from the Atlantic to the Urals--is a phenomenon of tribalism (under different names). You can see much the same going on in modern Africa. It's a "human" thing. Constant warfare of a very brutal (and tribal) nature was also endemic in much of the Americas.
Wow - I just read the update. Rod Rosenstein was involved. What a small world. And he just happened to be put in charge of Russiagate. What are the chances? Smells of a ringer. My head is spinning.
Hamas threw a wrench into both parties plans I'd say, considering the Israel first position of anyone who matters in DC, including Trump.
Not being American, I don't have a vote, but if I were I'd just stay home. Doesn't matter who you vote for, you just get more of the same, or as the French say, plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

Here's another issue Trump should be all over:

COVID vaccine distrust growing among Americans, survey finds: ‘Should be a personal choice’
Nearly a quarter of people think it is safer to get COVID than it is to get vaccinated

The US hesitance for long range weapons means Russia will act in kind and provide Yemen and Hezbollah with serious hardware.

They're in it together I'm sure. I just think the UK took the leading role in this instance. Just my opinion of course.
Thanks for the article link, Mark.
I am thankful for intrepid journalists like you and Tyler Durden for shedding light on the imperialistic tentacles of the US-EU-NATO monster.
May the monster be stymied soon.

Those are all winning issues for Trump--many of which Tulsi has been on for quite a while. Trump needs to get to work on that list.
Great article. Thanks Cassander!

The eGOP with the Democrats are fighting this movement with tooth and nails, and hope to destroy it as they did the tea party.
My search for her on American thinker by Google site search was censored. She has a book in big pharma corruption coming out Tuesday.

Update on her lawsuit on being spied on by the government, over 10 years old. Amazing.

@Cassander
Your post got me thinking, so I just did a bit of research on gun ownership.
Gun ownership usually indicates gop.
Depending on who you read. Gun ownership has either stayed static, or increased. My guess is increased.
https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/meetthepressblog/poll-gun-ownership-reaches-record-high-american-electorate-rcna126037
More males than females own guns. Which reflects voting patterns.
Ccw across the U.S. has been increasing, along with open carry laws. Even California had to free up its ccw process a bit (lots of hoops including a psych exam, but it’s possible. A friend of mine got one in La county, which used to be impossible unless you were connected). https://www.nssf.org/articles/concealed-carry-permit-holders-grows-seven-fold-in-20-years-still-rising/
Swag - Lots of crimes are being prevented by ccw, but news media has a blackout on the topic. My guess lots of word of mouth.
Swag - Increased fears in crime is driving new gun ownership in demographics usually login gun ownership.
