Let us hope so. That last post gave me a little chill. Things can certainly spin out of control as they have in the past. Re: Geroman and his comments regarding how the German's conducted combat in WWII Russia. They certainly preceded most major offensive actions with massive artillery strikes. They also had little concern for civilian casualties, particularly in Russia where the plan was to starve about 20 million of them to save on food. These are no brainers for any student of World War II. They also blasted Stalingrad to bits before entering the city proper- much to their later disadvantage. My point was that the Russians seem to be moving rather slowly over some open terrain that Germans slashed and burned through. Tactical air prior to an armor breakthrough and encirclement, to be reduced later by follow on infantry. Of course war is different now but overall, technological advances should make the same techniques faster, especially against an army that is not armed as well.

Putin directly ordered the military to go as lightly as possible. This is deliberate.

And a great way to cleanse an area of people that disagree with you. Allow them to leave, and then don’t allow them back. Political correct ethnic cleansing?

Most likely want to preserve as much of the infrastructure as possible. The more you destroy - the more you have to rebuild.

In line with my last expressed view, above, USDoS appears to be conceding that Ukraine can choose neutrality:

https://ru.usembassy.gov/briefing-with-deputy-secretary-sherman-on-the-us-russia-strategic-stability-dialogue-011022/

"Wendy R. Sherman: ... On the idea of neutrality, we have a really critical principle:  No decisions about Ukraine without Ukraine.  Ukraine gets to decide its foreign policy orientation.  It gets to decide its future. ..."

Has the Zhou admin gazed into the abyss ... and stepped back?

Zhou’s regime and the deep state believed a war was inconceivable, and that acting tough with Russia was slam dunk politics. And plus Ukraine was useful to pressure Russia, and get money for the uniparty. So keeping the status quo was good for the uniparty.

Unfortunately, polling probably show this is a loser politically for Zhou and not working as a distraction from the economy. The majority also believe that if the mean orange man was President, this would not have happened.

Late to party but... I'm now thinking the dc gangsters deliberately baited Russia to invade as a desperate gamble to create both a distraction from the wave of Jab deaths, collapsing Scamdemic controls, and sinking economy and to create a new Enemy to justify new controls, new narratives to punish wrongthink, and perhaps cancel midterms. They are gambling everything on the notion that Putin is not going to escalate beyond an acceptable point. So, all of what we see is a gambit by the DC Cartel to stoke the war juuuuust enough but not too much. In the meantime I'm starting to reevaluate whether backup electricity is more important.

Hey TD, as i recall you are retired LEO, right? Do you think some of the thuggery we've seen in Ottawa, Paris, and even DC by police is actually being carried out by hired security, i.e., outside contractors given police looking gear but hired to crack skulls? Any insights?

Wow. That article is amazing. US IC uses Ukraine to get Trump, gets screwed once again. Putin pounces.

In some ways this ties into my new theory that Zelensky is now not letting this crisis go to waste. He’s using this crisis as an opportunity to become the buffer state they should have been all along—ridding themselves of client statehood for either large power.

Too late:

https://www.theepochtimes.com/germany-to-send-anti-tank-weapons-missiles-to-ukraine-in-major-policy-reversal_4304342.html

"Germany will provide anti-tank weapons and surface-to-air missiles to Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced Saturday.

“The Russian attack marks a turning point. It is our duty to do our best to help Ukraine defend against the invading army of Putin. That’s why we’re supplying 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger missiles to our friends in Ukraine,” he wrote in a Twitter post.

This is a major reversal of Berlin’s longstanding policy of banning weapon exports to battle zones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed Germany’s change of stance: “Keep it up, Chancellor Olaf Scholz! Anti-war coalition in action!”

Berlin Saturday authorized NATO partners the Netherlands and Estonia to deliver German-made weapons to Ukraine.

The batch of weapons included 400 RPGs from the Netherlands and old GDR howitzers from Estonia."

Does the article explain how they're gonna get the stuff into Ukraine? Fair game for Russians.
