Mark, you started your post with "if you can't get enough of the Russia Hoax". I've been feeling as tired and disappointed as you, as anyone, in Durham's failure/inability to indict the ringleaders and/or build the mother of all conspiracy cases against these people.
Then I read Techno's latest post, and his readers' comments, here:
I must say that I think Durham is, in fact, doing a tremendous job in pulling the whole story together for the American people's consumption and making a compelling case for a criminal conspiracy (as you and numerous of us have long suspected) that included the highest levels of our various power structures, including the FBI, DoJ, Mrs Clinton, the Obama Administration, and Robert Mueller. For starters. And very likely including the Bushes, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and other eGOPers.
I cannot explain why Durham has not filed that conspiracy case. But I can imagine incredibly powerful forces arrayed against him. The same forces who sought to destroy Trump would likely be equally opposed to Durham's exposing the whole story. And then, of course, there is the Barr factor.
I did also find much of the speculation in the comments to Techno's article linked above to be useful as more background in trying to understand the totality of the Russia Hoax. I guess I just can't get enough of it, myself.
While all this is true in an academic historical kinda sense, the problem is this: to make sure something like this is less likely to happen again you need to capture the American public's very limited attention span. These prosecutions of witnesses rather than co-conspirators are not doing that, while the SOL runs. Shielding of the "highest levels of our various power structures" continues apace. No doubt fascinating books about this will be written years from now.
So...Mark, I assume you think Durham should bring the conspiracy case against the 'highest levels' to capture the American public's limited attention span. Not to mention the attention span of the millions still in denial.
Why do you think he hasn't brought the conspiracy case?
I doubt that the conspiracy case would be any weaker than these few cases he has brought. At a guess I'd say out of a misguided notion of wanting to steer clear of "prosecuting politics" and wishing to preserve the standing of DoJ/FBI as institutions. Barr's goofy notion that by providing an example of non-partisanship liberals would somehow undergo a conversion and fall into line with that example.
It's not "good guys being good". It's good cop / bad cop. The actors playing "moral but weak" are entirely complicit with those playing "strong and amoral". Two sides of the same con.
Lee Smith’s “The Plot Against The President,” has an underreported passage that in January of 2016, before the Iowa Caucuses, while Manafort was still in rehab, CIA Analyst who shall not be named, Eric Ciaramella—of future “whistleblower” fame—asked a visiting delegation of Ukrainian law enforcement officials for incriminating information on Manafort from his time in Ukraine, linking him to Russia.
In other words, the Democrats were plotting to link the GOP Presidential campaign to Russia 3 months before the supposedly learned they’d been hacked by Russians and 4 months before Trump became the GOP nominee. It’s almost like they knew Russian and Ukrainian donations to the Clinton Foundation were a major weakness and that luckily one of only two living GOP consultants to have managed a brokered convention in a year the Republican nomination was expected to go down to the wire had done extensive work in Ukraine advocating a “get along with Europe AND Russia” policy. If that guy, as appears likely, winds up working for the winning GOP presidential campaign, then we can use him to tie the nominee, whoever that winds up being to Russia, to distract attention from all the bribes our candidates foundation has taken.
There's a lot going on, including all of the issues you raise.
At the top of the list, I think, is Powell's positioning to insure, to the extent possible, that the US economy and financial system weathers the coming storms better than the rest of the world's economies and financial systems. We may be led by an administration with dreams of global hegemony, but in the meantime the Fed (with full support from the likes of JPM and GS) is battening down the hatches. In particular, as between the US and the EU, we will take no prisoners. At the very end of the day it is every man for himself. Bankers understand this very well.
Manafort was a typical DC hack. But he was a hack of the team red variety and so he was prosecuted for something like not being registered as an agent of a foreign country which he was representing in some fashion yet his boss, the other sleazeball Podesta brother was doing the exact same thing and suffered zero consequences.
Weissmann is not just 'dirty', he is evil. He is responsible for the corrupt destruction of tens of thousands of jobs, leading to untold destruction of families, marriages, and human lives. He is a monster.

A lot of the financial gamesmanship is a bit overwhelming, but interesting to follow in light of Luongo’s theory.
Something is scaring the Fed.
The question is what?
- The threat of hyper inflation?
- The US $ losing its reserve status? With the massive financial implications for the US?
- popping the financial bubbles / over leverage?
- Destroying the power of they great reset / Davis / WEF of a centralized digital currency that would neuter the Fed?
- Biden’s efforts with WEF Allie’s that are destroying the Western Economies?
- stopping out of control US Deficits?
