I've still got a beef with the French for murdering my ancestors and forcing their children to emigrate to the U.S. as orphaned teenagers back at the end of the 17th Century. I haven't quite picked out the house I want in the former Saintonge province yet but I am working on it. Funny that "reparations" is a French word but they don't seem to think much of the idea.
While you're at it, a little closer to home, you might as well claim the large swathes of NY's Hudson Valley that were first settled by Huguenots from Saintonge. Having grown up there, I can assure you that the locals will just LOVE to have you on their doorstep. ;-)
NFO, I like that idea! LOL. The Hudson Valley is beautiful. I travelled there periodically for work over a couple of years many years ago. I have a feeling the property values are quite a bit higher than Saintonge, too - haha - (at least in general). Yeah, the biggest Huguenot communities initially were in NY, Quebec, and SC, with some in VA, too.
Yeah, yeah, yep . . . and If the Mongols had a method of determining whom a deceased Khan's successor was going to be without having to return home, or if the Crusaders would have joined forces with the Mongols, the Mideast situation would be much different.
Palestinian-Israeli conflict reimagined as a house-share. Three brief sketches. (Warning: black humor):

Wow! Let’s hope no Canaanites or Philistines show up in the Levant laying claim to their ancestral homeland, things will get even more complicated.
The Palestinian and Lebanese Christians ARE those people, as a recent post argues.
