News Briefs: Herridge Case, Houthis Hit Cables, American Thermidor?
These will be brief. In the Herridge case it’s being reported that CBS has returned her files. But, as Red State points out:
CBS is desperately trying to fend off the backlash by giving her files back. But why did they keep them, to begin with? What were they trying to do?
Plus, how do we know that they didn't review any of the files?
Doesn’t really pass the smell test. This was totally unprecedented—you know there had to have been a reason behind the action.
It is being claimed that the Houthis have attacked underwater internet cables that connect the Asia and Europe—India and Persian Gulf countries are said to be most affected. This news is coming from Israeli media outlets:

It appears to be confirmed that there has been damage to several cables. However, neither the extent of the damage nor the actual cause has been confirmed. There are other sub sea cables in the area, so we’ll need to keep an eye on this.

Follow the link for Kunstler’s description of the Thermidorian Reaction during the French Revolution, which overturned the Jacobins and their Reign of Terror. I’ll simply quote Kunstler’s view of the mood in America:
This event became known as the Thermidorian Reaction. The insane Jacobin program of terror and social derangement was swiftly abolished. Nothing like it was seen again until the Bolsheviks, the Maoists and the Khmer Rouge came along in the 20th century, and now, in our time, The Party of Chaos as led by “Joe Biden” (or whoever and whatever is behind him), with their open border, their lust for another world war, their drive for censorship, their sadistic lawfare, their race and sex hustles, their compulsive lying, and their sick destruction of every norm and boundary in daily life.
America is headed for its own Thermidorian Reaction. It’ll end up being called something else, of course, because it is a different time, place, and set of circumstances. But it feels close, doesn’t it? Everybody I know or correspond with mentions this feeling that something is going to blow in our country, and pretty soon. It may be interesting to see what happens in the MI primaries tomorrow. They’re essentially uncontested, but we may get some indicators of voter sentiment.
I'm a regular reader of James Kunstler's twice weekly posts. They are at time times dark and conspiratorial and other times humorous. He seems to express the sentiments that many Americans have today about our corrupt government and a society bent on self-destruction.
JHK is definitely worth a read. He's a consummate wordsmith and very entertaining. He's also a classic East Coast liberal who had the grace to see the light when his party went off the deep end.
