While this story comes from only one county in America, it has a special significance in that that county is Deep Blue Cook County in IL, which includes Chicago. Cook County recently, along with Chicago, promulgated a vax pass mandate for restaurants and other public sites. That hasn’t gone down well with all towns in suburban Cook County. While some extremely liberal towns welcomed the mandate, others have rejected it:
Multiple Illinois cities resist new vaccine passport system that makes 5 year olds carry papers
The Democrat-stronghold of Cook County, which includes Chicago, requires everyone aged 5 and over to show their papers if they want to enter public establishments.
According to The Center Square:
The vaccine requirement was issued on Dec. 23, 2021, and went into effect on Jan. 3. The COVID-19 mitigation requires indoor businesses to enforce a vaccine requirement for patrons ages five and older. So far leaders from Orland Park, Niles, Morton Grove and Lincolnwood have chosen to not enforce the vaccine mandate in their towns.
The Village of Orland Park and its town officials have been against the enforcement and Mayor Keith Pekau criticized the way Cook County officials have handled the situation.
"We have taken an oath to uphold both the U.S. and the Illinois constitutions and to follow the rule of law," Pekau said in a video posted on YouTube. "The vaccine passport requirement ordered by one person through unelected bureaucrats is an affront to our laws."
The village of Niles has also chosen to let Cook County enforce the requirement in their town, Mayor George Alpogianis said in a statement to the Chicago Tribune.
“We will follow up if we get complaints, we will call the business and say, ‘Listen, there is a mandate out there.’ But it’s not up to us to enforce it and get them to do those things.”
…
Evanston, Oak Park, and Skokie have all said they will enforce the mandate.
Orland Park, Burr Ridge, Park Ridge, Niles, Morton Grove, and Lincolnwood said they will not be enforcing the requirement.
According to the Lifesite article:
Tinley Park will also refuse to enforce the passport system, according to Fox 32.
The Lifesite article also quotes from an editorial published in a local news site from ultra liberal Oak Park (Zhou: 89%). The editorial offers a fascinating and disturbing look at the liberal view on their fellow men:
Oak Park local media calls people who reject COVID-19 jabs ‘deranged’
One village that is strongly in favor of “segregating” the unvaccinated from the jabbed is liberal Oak Park, which sits on the Chicago border. In a place where “No human being is illegal” and “Hate has no home here” signs can frequently be found in front yards and apartment windows, residents will have to show their papers to eat in restaurants. Oak Park voted 89% in favor of President Joe Biden in 2020.
The local news site is in favor of the requirement, calling those who have not taken the abortion-tainted jabs “deranged.”
“Rational people have taken this proactive, life-affirming step [getting jabbed],” the editorial board of the Wednesday Journal said in a January 4 piece. “They deserve to be protected by government, by business, by churches, by restaurants, theaters, gyms and nightclubs from an irrational minority of people who have turned a worldwide pandemic into some sort of political proving ground for the deranged.”
...
“Segregating those people from the rest of us so that we can move toward some changed sense of normal life — breakfast at Louie’s, lunch at George’s, dinner at Lou Malnati’s — makes perfect sense,” the editorial board wrote. “We have no second thoughts on this. We have no sympathy for the unvaccinated. Actually, we have contempt for them, and we don’t want them sitting near us coughing on our popcorn at the Lake Theatre.”
The board previously wrote in August 2021 that it wanted vaccine mandates for all city employees and again used the term “deranged.”
“We have as a nation reached this lunatic moment when we have the methods to stomp this virus and the majority is allowing a deranged minority to block the attempt for reasons that are nonsensical, and an assault on the common good,” the board wrote.
It again endorsed a new segregation for the 21st century.
“Our collective future depends on the rational use of the tools we have to sequester the misguided into increasingly narrow lives apart from the rest of us,” the board wrote.
Perhaps this is where the Liberal Three on the SCOTUS got their views?
Wow, it sounds like Oak Park itself is a "political proving ground for the deranged" if they voted 89% for Biden. As for the editors of the Wednesday Journal, it seems they would fit right in editing Der Stuermer in Nazi Germany in the '30s. Same mindset and essentially advocating the same methods (prejudice, discrimination, scapegoating, persecution) in support of authoritarian government.
If you look at the captured page from the "Wednesday Journal," toward the bottom of the editorial they quote a movie theater CEO as follows: "The majority of people are rule followers, whatever the rules are..." How many here think that is a very scary statement? Maybe in Oak Park that is just the way they like it - but I sure am glad I am not there.
Something's gotta give.
