Not long before shots rang out, rally goers noticed a man climbing to the top of a roof of a nearby building and warned local law enforcement, according to two law enforcement officials.

One officer climbed to the roof and encountered Crooks, who pointed his rifle at the officer. The officer retreated down the ladder and Crooks quickly took a shot toward former President Donald Trump, and that’s when the U.S. Secret Service counter snipers shot him, said the officials who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

I wonder if this lack of Secret Services resources is a funding challenge. Spending budget dollars to analyze the future uses of boysenberry juices or to fund polar bear habitat impact by oil drilling in Alaska instead of law enforcement operations.

Democratic congressman's staffer says she wishes shooter Thomas Crooks had 'better aim' in vile post after Trump's assassination attempt

Marsaw, 61, who describes herself as a 'civil rights activist', got the attention of Republicans across the country. She has since deleted the post and her account, but screenshots have been reposted across social media.

She shared: 'I don't condone violence but please get some shooting lessons so you don't miss next time ooops that wasn't me talking.'

In a follow up post, she said: 'That's what your hate speech got you!!'

Jacqueline Marsaw, who is also secretary, president and vice president of a local NAACP, was previously venerated as a 'hometown hero' by WJTV.

When looking at the circumstances in favor of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the identified alleged suspect in the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Butler, PA, it's hard to see how the guy failed. Almost every Secret Service security protocol seems to have been ignored, allowing Crooks easy access to a perfect shooting position and plenty of time to acquire a bead on Trump's podium.

The rooftop used by Crooks was a mere 140 yards away from the event with a clear line of sight to the right of Trump. Those familiar with precision shooting know that any shot within 300 yards is considered easy for a moderately trained rifleman. With the right caliber an expert can hit a torso sized target consistently at 1000 yards or more. At 140 yards any amateur should be able to hit a pie plate-sized target with little difficulty, even without a magnified optic.

The Secret Service is supposed to secure all obvious "sniper perches" well before the arrival of a protectee - Meaning, nearby rooftops and buildings are supposed to have a security presence in place along with drone surveillance. In the case of Butler, PA, this was apparently not done. SS snipers were only present on the building right behind the venue stage.

Note that Swecker asks "what if there had been a second shooter".

Yeah, about that, did someone know... there would not be second shooter?

Some background on the weapon:

Some reports are now claiming the rifle was an AR type. But that doesn't tell us about the caliber. There are plenty of ARs out there that are chambered in 22LR. LJ makes a good argument, we'll have to see.

Gee! This is gonna slow the Epstein death (accident? assassination?)investigation! Can DOJ, FBI handle both?

They'll need more money, and a *bigger* new building built, to keep Trump safe.

The same bureau that investigated the Las Vegas shooting and the January 6th pipe bombs is now investigating the attempted assassination of Trump.

This is also the same bureau that raided Mar-a-Lago.

I’m sure they’ll get to the bottom of this soon.

Massie comes out swinging. So glad to see it.

Though he is registered as a Republican, it does not mean he was.

Many liberals registered to vote as Republicans during the primaries to throw support behind Nikki Haley to sabotage Trump. Pennsylvania is a closed primary state, meaning that independents and Democrats are not eligible to vote for the Republican nominee unless they switch parties.

Crooks made several small donations to ActBlue and the Democrat National Committee.

GNN: Thomas Matthew Crooks, the shooter of President Donald Trump, appears to be a registered Republican, but also a donor of Democrat Super PAC ActBlue.

Luke Rosiak of the Daily Wire reports, “The 20-year old male lives with his mother, who is handicapped and often clings to her husband to walk, they said. The family keeps to themselves. The mother was sitting in the street among evidence tonight, they said. Records suggest he registered to vote as a Republican.”

Despite the voter registration, he donated $15 to a Democrat group dedicated to “defending democracy” on Biden’s inauguration day. Both of his parents are counselors.

J.D. Vance @JDVance1

Today is not just some isolated incident.

The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs.

That rhetoric led directly to President Trump's attempted assassination.
