Ben Wittes? Seriously? They get as far as “Brookings Institute” and their minds jam. Wittes is a hack journalist who is/was Jim Comey’s BFF. He spread to the NYT Comey’s personal memos on private conversations with President Trump. He started Lawfare, and recruited all of the former Dem Big Shots who were fired from the FBI, etc. He is a self-promoting, self-reverential, very evil little guy.

Truly, I believe it is not just a welcome distraction from domestic problems. I believe the ultimate intent is to remove Putin from the leadership of Russia, one way or another. It truly is a fight for their "New World Order" and Putin is seen as an obstacle to that. The other rationales, as Sundance would put it, are "chaff and countermeasures."
