This is the most dangerous period in Western Civ history since Cuba. The Enemy doesn't lose. My fear is for the Enemy to let loose some kind of nuclear device just prior to Vilnius - this would change everything - I mean EVERYTHING.

It would also fit with the playbook. Covid (scam). Vaxx (scam). Ukraine (scam). WWIII ...?

And we thought the Covid response was bad.

Great news: Mark Rutte's WEF government (Netherlands) has fallen:

Hopefully just one among several to come.

All sorts of signals that there could be big political changes all across Europe. Spain, France, Germany. Could be others. Some changes already in place (Sweden, Italy, and others) could be emboldened to come out for peace as events progress.

IIR, Rutte bragged about not going to visit his elderly mother during the lockdowns - which he zealously enforced. Such a creep. Such good news!

I sincerely hope I live long enough to see America return to the rule of law. And with that, I have decent seats at the Tribunals and hanging of Nuland, Sullivan and Blinken (for starters).

If that's too much to ask...then may they each be stricken with a$$ cancer.

History will not be kind to this cabal.

Is there any way to bury the name "neocon"? There must be something better. After all they are a bunch of aging worn out useless self-serving trouble makers. No longer new and certainly not conservative.

The slow grind for Ukraine is a slow grind for NATO. A major thrust into Ukraine can reveal the combat power that the new Russian Army has. Will this frighten NATO into unity or fracture it as some seek shelter in the shadow of the strong horse? There is likely back door diplomacy going on with Lavrov and a number of European nations. Will they want to be part of the new great pan-Eurasian prosperity or vassals in the senescent American Empire? Europeans have to wonder if we lack the combat power to protect them. Or the will to see hundreds of thousands of dead GIs. Will they watch us throw Ukraine into the bonfire and feel secure that they are not next? Will our Napoleon-level of genius leadership toss Europe into the fire because of their ideology? They have to be thinking about this. Putin can do this for a long time. The domestic pressure for a major offensive is likely the only thing that would force him into it. Barring that why not have NATO in the pot simmering away? He can turn up the heat at the perfect time and break the alliance and perhaps force us out of Europe. Regime change for Russia? Turnabout is fair play. How about regime change in Europe that turns NATO’s 1 billion dollar HQ into a museum? Or perhaps Putin’s Winter Palace if we keep following neocon plans.

I love it when Zhou, Blinken, Nuland, the NeoCons and especially Jake the snake have to eat some humble pie. My concern has been and still is the escalation at all costs to save face. Who will put a halt to this when the time comes?

They will all deny everything. It was all trumps fault. Or maybe GWB.

Regarding escalation - tonight's UK news headline is that the U.S is sending cluster bombs to Ukr. I guess they aren't ready to eat humble pie just yet.

Expand full comment

Heard that. Yep part of the escalation party. We never learn.

The report also said 111 countries signed up to a ban on said munitions sometime around 2010. Only Russia, America and Ukraine refused to sign. Isn't that strange? This doesn't bode well, although it has forced some mainstream commenters to admit they are sending them because they have run out of pretty much everything else, so ....

The story is that the US is on the verge of running out of--or running dangerously low on--conventional munitions, so they're making up the shortfall with these.

Mark Ames

@MarkAmesExiled

What a gruesome reason to commit war crimes: “we can’t make enough conventional weapons, so we’ll hand you illegal weapons”. And all this time NATOland was gloating about how Russia was on the verge of running out of everything & collapsing any day now. Kakistocracy 4ever.

It was funny in a non funny way to watch Rishi Sunak being asked about the cluster bombs. He couldn't support the decision but nor could he condemn it. I can't see Russia allowing these munitions to ever have a chance of being fired.

Sen Lindsey! claims he will be working for the bipartisan senate passage of a Resolution urging the admission of Ukraine into NATO. Wish he'd follow the examples of Mitch & Nancy - stfu & go away.

I don’t see Russia as having an incentive to have “peace” short term. The longer this goes on, the more Western equipment and support gets destroyed, further weakening the US and Nato. Plus the weakening of the us and European economies. And the longer it goes on, the more it weakens the current European and US parties in power. The war is accelerating the fall of King Dollar as an economic weapon.

The US would love for another Minsk Agreement to stop the bad headlines and meat grinder, giving the Ukrainians time to rebuild for another go.

Russia wants a real solution, guaranteeing Ukrainian is no longer a threat, and regaining control of all Russian speaking areas. Ukraine will become a landlocked country. Unfortunately with modern weapons, Russian advances are slow to avoid massive casualties.

Uk only has 40 tanks combat ready?

The 2024 US Presidential election season will add a lot of pressure / urgency to the Democrats.

Plus the increased economic pressure on the West.

I expect some major movement around September by the US. I have no idea what.

Expand full comment

All good news. Let's hope it gets even more painful and humiliating for these deranged maniacs. As for "The default solution appears to be Russian victory with no negotiated settlement that would soften the blow for the US", I can't see how Putin can do otherwise. Anything less leaves the door open for more neocon shenanigans when they dare raise their snouts again. I really can't see him just settling for the Donbas. As a 4-star armchair general, I'd definitely go right up to the Dnieper and take out Odessa.

Given the reality of the situation on the ground, and given the 2021 Russian demands, and given their insistence on "de-Nazifying" and demilitarizing Ukraine, I agree with you about Odessa oblast. I also think Russia's position would require that the rump state of Ukraine be a protectorate (under at least partial Russian administrative and total military control). If that were to happen, I could see Russia perhaps foregoing the demand for rolling back NATO. But who knows if both sides would agree to that? The West might not have a choice.

Expand full comment

Yes. If Russia had the important parts of Ukraine as a buffer zone against the West, they might be satisfied. Especially as NATO is going to be substantially weaker after this conflict than it was before. However, I'm sure that Putin will also go for the highest demands possible.
