After pretty much a lost weekend, I am going to go to bed tonight and let the Middle East do what it wants. Last night, when the Fattah's started falling I was so surprised that I thought they were Iskanders and Russia had entered the war.

Still, it kind of tells you where things are headed.

1. The Iron Dome not being able to do crap against either the Fattahs or the Iskanders.

2. The United States relegated to shooting down Iranian missiles.

3. And Russia raining down death.

If Iran was Pearl Harbored, let's see if that comes with an order of "grim resolve."

Israel has reportedly established a new underground military command center beneath Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.

According to open-source reports, this fortified facility includes a network of tunnels that link it to key Israeli military bases, allowing operations to continue during missile strikes or aerial bombardment.

"Israeli military headquarters hides behind the civilian residents of central Tel Aviv and the patients at Ichilov Hospital just 450 meters from the office of the commander in chief. Sheba Medical Center outside Tel Aviv protects the Tel Hashomer military base. The navy base in Haifa hides in the shadow of the Rambam medical center. Even “our nuclear family” hides among the resolute and pastoral rural population."

Many conservatives are facing a dilemma with Trump. On the one hand, most conservatives strongly support border security, election security, restoring executive control over the government, and sanity in the face of DEI tyranny. On the other hand, sensible conservatives strongly oppose Trump's attacks on free speech and his outsourcing of foreign policy to extremist Jewish Nationalists and the Deep State.

Axios dug up this Trump quote from 2012. It's true that Trump isn't seeking reelection, but it does raise this question--if that's the way Trump thinks could he be cynical enough to attempt the tactic that he claims others will use?

.

Then-citizen Donald Trump predicted in November 2011 video that then-President Barack Obama would start a war with Iran in order to get re-elected in 2012."Our president will start a war with Iran because he has absolutely no ability to negotiate. He’s weak and he’s ineffective. So the only way he figures that he’s going to get re-elected, and as sure as you're sitting there, is to start a war with Iran."

Yet another example highlighting the difference between Trump's past statements and promises and his current actions. What it does suggest, though, is that Trump must be fully aware, now, of the implications of what he is doing regarding Iran. Does he also realize that he is now weak and ineffective?

As you have often pointed out (along with MacGregor and others) it also suggests that there may be forces in control of his actions now that were not in control of him during his first term - and who are not aligned with what his earlier thinking was.

Washington knew how destructive such alliances could be, including financially. Nevertheless, "Washington still intended for the United States to honor all existing international treaties."

Today "our government" is violating both of G. Washington's principles in everything it does internationally. In fact a suspicious person might think that all of the current actions of the U.S. government are MEANT to bankrupt the country and make us an international pariah. Trump says Iran can still "make a deal" but I'd love to understand why he thinks Iran would engage again given he just admitted he was negotiating in bad faith, lulling them into believing he was prioritizing diplomacy when he was in fact jointly planning the attack with Israel.

An additional layer of irony is of course the fact that Trump is the same guy who unilaterally tore up the last deal Iran made with the US, thereby proving that even if Iran does make a deal it simply isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Anyone with a modicum of intellectual honesty can only conclude that Trump's renewed call to Iran to "make a deal" after all this is either completely delusional or disingenuous.

And that far from deterring Iran to build a nuclear weapon, America's behavior can only reinforce their belief that it is actually their only reliable option.

Also this isn't only about Iran. Wonder why the U.S. hasn't managed to negotiate virtually any deal lately, be it with Russia or as part of Trump's trade war? You've got your answer right there: if a car salesman has a reputation for selling lemons, no-one anywhere believes their sales pitch.

Trust and credibility are the single greatest currencies in international affairs and in that regard the U.S. is diplomatically bankrupt.

I think I posted this link back in August 2024 and had forgotten about it until, on another site, someone bought up the Protocols. I found I had archived it. It was an X post by Kim Dotcom:

A Daniel Davis deep dive video mentioned it was in Israel’s interest to tie the U.S. to the attacks on Iran.

https://youtu.be/hvyWxQrA-AM?si=IJ_ZMrHg3ivm94Ih

Reports are an Iranian missile hit the Israeli military headquarters.

Israel is censoring all mention of Iranian atttack results.

Both sides are reporting minimal casualties.

Trump is pushing his big beautiful bill, and the Israeli lobby could kill it. Plus he’s dealing with Lyndsay Graham that claims he has the votes for 500% tariffs on countries that trade with Russia. The same deep dive video labeled Trump a political Houdini, an escape artist, able to escape political traps, often ones he accidentally created.

My gut feeling is Israeli politics drove this attack in Iran more than Trump.

But, I don’t know.

I don’t understand the US Yemen operation.

My guess is Trump wants to avoid foreign wars and entanglement, such as regime change, because that would imperil his agenda for fixing the U.S. closing the gulf of Hormuz would be an economic disaster, as would destroying the Saudi and gulf oil infrastructure.

Trump is facing huge forces in Congress that are pro Ukraine and pro Israel.

In Trumps tweets I see it as more of Trumps bs and negotiating style of creating ambiguity. As well as saying stuff to get the U.S. Israeli lobby / neocons to moderate them. Tom Luongo pointed this out in a recent podcast.

Expand full comment
Steghorn21's avatar

That may have been Trump's original position, Ray, but he is now clearly in line with his controllers. He now owns this war just like he does the Ukraine conflict. As for Tom Luongo, I don't pay much attention to what he says.

Expand full comment
Ray-SoCa's avatar

I’ll disagree.

Trump has some freedom of action as evidenced that the U.S. is not directly attacking Iran so far, which Israel desperately wants.

Same with Ukraine. Trump is weaving and bobbing on Ukraine, and at least he’s talking to Putin. And the pro Ukraine forces, especially the eu and neocons, including the Murdoch papers, hate he’s talking to Putin. It makes it harder to demonize Russia and Putin.

Unfortunately there is overwhelming pressure from Congress and top fund raisers on Ukraine and Israel, and if Trump steps too far out of line, he will be impeached, the 500% Russian tariff bill passed, and even impeached. Israel and Ukraine are unfortunately the third rail in U.S. politics. I don’t think the amount of Israel supporting Congress can be under estimated. Israel uses a combination of money, blackmail, and election primary threats. Ukraine support I just don’t get why it’s so huge, along with the Russia hatred/ hysteria.

I had such high hopes when Trump won, but at this point I’m defaulting to my original estimation of things; the country is in free fall and has been for some time and we aren’t willing to acknowledge that fact. I thought that perhaps DJT could stop the decline, or at least slow it down, but in light of recent events that appears to have been a misguided expectation.

We have no credibility left as a country and I don’t see how we regain that at this point. The free fall continues and we may have actually picked up momentum. It is saddening and disheartening to witness this decline. Sorry to be so glum, but not feeling particularly optimistic right now.

Stuff:

- Kennedy is making amazing progress against huge opposition, including Senator Cassidy.

- I’m not sure what’s going on with fbi/ doj, hopefully lots of positive stuff that’s hidden.

- Overwhelming israel and Ukraine support are facts of life with a razor this majority, with a lot of Rinos that hate his guts.

- huge progress in Dei

- actually fighting the culture war transgenders in k-12

- it’s telling the dc prosecutor Ed Martin could not be confirmed.

- border reductions and deportations is a huge improvement over Biden

- at least Trump is talking to Putin, and was talking to Iran.

- anti censorship stand

- using tariffs to fight unfair economic barriers in trade.

- shutting down U.S. aid.

- doge

- reducing regulatory overreach

- unfortunately Trump had had to use executive orders due to congressional in action.

- effectively legally fighting judicial over reach

- fighting back and showing how biased and out of touch the press and. Democrats are. The videos on la riots are well done. Redoing Whitehouse press representation.

- pushing back on Democrat naming such as Fort Bragg.

- Yemen was a huge negative.

- dealing with Israel is a minefield. Gaza is a disaster. Trumps tweets on Gaza I dint get. At least he got the us hostages out and a ceasefire, till Israel renewed hostilities.

- unfortunately U.S. troops are still in Syria.
