The moral fabric of society can be unwoven by a thread - a thread of rebellion against God. Should it be surprising that Christ said "If you love me, keep my commands" (John 14:15)? That statement was not only prescriptive (meant as an act of love, redemption, and deliverance from evil) but also a proscription (an act of warning against the consequences of succumbing to evil). The "I Am" and His Word remains inviolable and eternal - and rebellion against it individually or as a society has negative consequences. There is no getting around that.

Yep. If marriage is only tangentially, if at all, related to the regulation of procreation, then there is no logical reason why the husband of someone that gave birth to a child should have any custodial rights or authority over that child—man and wife are just two people who’s love is acknowledged by a State license.

And if a 10 year old can consent to surgically removing their sex organs and trying to fashion a simulacrum of a different sex organ in its place, then they can consent to sex.

Destroy paternal authority and protection over children and legalize pederasty through the back door—Moloch has certainly had a productive decade.

I didn't know that about Dreher, but in some ways it's unsurprising--and beyond ironic. Although very sad re a talented guy. I always was repulsed by his references to his former promiscuous life coming from a married guy with kids. What kind of a guy repeatedly humiliates his wife and family in that way? Also his non-stop travel always seemed inconsistent with normal family life.

Ideas of consequences. Thus the idea that a human being--man or woman--is defined as in essence a vessel containing a bundle of rights, rather than a creature of a specific nature, body and soul, intended toward an end, leads to all this.
