So it’s official. After early rumors to the effect, the Chief Justice has confirmed that there will be a leak investigation. According to the statement below it will be conducted by the Marshal of the Court. I have no idea whatsoever what facilities or expertise the Marshal may have at his disposal to handle such an investigation, but I can’t imagine he would be precluded from bringing in outside experts.
Well I’ll disagree. I think the first sentence of his statement is pretty strong - probably as strong as you’re ever gonna get from the chief Justice of the Supreme Court. They’re not supposed to be political.
I have a question. What is the status of soon-to-be-Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson with regard to access to SCOTUS decision drafts? Asking for a friend. Current money line is Justice Sotomayer or one of her clerks. But... Neil in SD (and still not vaxx'ed!)
I'd imagine that the responsible party will own this under investigation, when faced with the choice of (x) outing him/herself as an ethically-bereft hero of the Left or (y) lying under oath to a US Marshal. Not entirely sure you have an actionable crime until you get to the (y) option, but will happily stand corrected on this.
Is this the new George Floyd moment before the midterms? What a great way to stir up a lot of protesting, gnashing of teeth, and other soon to be revealed crazy acts of rage from the desperate donkeys.
Here’s a theory to try out. The left would’ve blown up anyway if this was released over the Summer giving them something to unite behind. However, perhaps it’s a distraction from Ukraine losing the war which is cited by several over at moonoveralabama. Guess what’s not top billing anymore?

It’s impossible to overstate the earthquake this will cause inside the Court, in terms of the destruction of trust among the Justices and staff. This leak is the gravest, most unforgivable sin.
It's actually kind of funny in a sick and perverse way. I imagine these Oligarchs laughing their butts off, saying, "Hahaha...what??? You think we care anything about your patriarchal and white oppressive notions of trust, confidentiality, rule of law, truth? We aren't playing that game and we don't respect any if your rules or ideals."

The Supreme Court leaker is a criminal.
18 U.S.C. § 641 makes it a crime to "knowingly convert... any record" of the United States for one's personal use – including legal opinions.
The penalty is 1 to 10 years in prison.
