I’m an admitted old male misogynist. I remember the beginning of the feminist movement when we were told that when women took over the world would be a better place. Ha! Here we see two apparently youngish women raised and steeped in feminism pushing for all their worth toward starting a war. Either that or they’re too dumb to realize what they’re doing.

I’m thinking it’s both, they are very dumb and they continue to push for world war. The problem with dumb people is they don’t know that they’re dumb. Arrogance and stupidity are a deadly combination.

It's very common for a leak given to one news agency to be repeated by other news agencies to form a circular self-reinforcing chain. This pattern, the primary root of the Trump/Mueller disaster, was broken in this instance.

As one wit has pointed out, following the science leads nowhere, but following the money will lead to the science.

Mark, thank you for digging into this journalistic Pandora’s box! It struck me that there was something “rotten” going on, not just the “well, we fired him because he relied on just a single official source!” Yeah right. With Lisa, Vanessa and Zeina calling the shots (oops), what could go wrong? A family member works at AP, and over the years, and especially since Pruitt left j”about a year ago and Daisy Veerasingham, an “international citizen” was hired as CEO, it has, no surprise here, dialed up its missionary zeal and permanent CYA mode among the employees…(“The importance of AP as an unbiased, factual news source cannot be overstated – our journalism reaches more than half the world’s population every day”…DV). How about “biased and fictional?”

The "official" explanation never made much, if any, sense. I toyed with the idea that the reporter was looking for a scoop, perhaps for ideological reasons--wanting it to be true, but settled on protecting the intel official. I'd bet on that now.

That Vanessa Gera ditz should be synonymous with gullible stupidity.

She lives such an ideologically insular life that she can't imagine a senior intelligence official lying about this?!

My God. What a pathetic dolt.

Serious comment now- I will wager there was no real source, or no source who could have known the facts at the time. I mean, I hope it was someone in the IC, and that that person gets burned by the reporter, but I doubt he really exists.

You can have 2 real anonymous sources to get a story published at AP, or you can have 1 fake anonymous source. Apparently, you can't have 1 real one. Makes sense.

He can't comment because that must be part of his severance deal with AP. Buying his compliance and silence. This is the one way regime media might get inspired to do their job and find the high level source. One of their own got got. So get to it, could be you next, journos. Name the disinforming.

Fired by the AP, and ordered by the AP not to comment. What hold do they have on him? This can't stay like this. That lying source needs to be outed! LaPorta was a marine ... doesn't he have courage anymore? Are they threatening his family? This needs to change!
