I'm a simple minded man most of the time and have been susceptible to conspiracy theories though I fight them off most of the time. I also read Sundance a lot after eschewing him for a while because I thought he was a little nuts (my simple mindedness showing I suppose). If I read CTH correctly now, he thinks this was all drummed up or allowed to happen for purposes of pushing the Green New Deal and all that goes with that. For awhile he was writing that there would be no invasion, it was all a hoax. Didn't work out so well for him though.

As I watch the gas prices rise around me in central NH and having just paid $4.25 a gallon for heating oil yesterday, it all seems to make some sense. Maybe the State Dept maneuvered him into it or Putin just wants to be a new Tsar. Whatever his reasoning, I think there are cynical, evil ideologues in DC and all over the world prepared to do whatever it takes to mold a world in the image they desire. This growing sense of unease won't go away and I get up every morning wondering what the world will look like. I'm convinced we are being guided by ideological nutcases who don't care what anyone thinks. They're going to transition us to electricity regardless of the pain or suffering it causes people. They're on a mission from God and to hell with anyone who doesn't want to come for the ride.

They’re not on a mission from God. They’re on a mission against God.

Yes. At least on the western side. I have no love for Putin, but watching his actions, I interpret them as pragmatic. He has a nationalistic, pro Russian point of view and his actions bear that out.

Wouldn't it be the ultimate irony if a thuggish ex-KGB dictator saved the western world from its own stupidity?

Take one look at Steven Cohen back in 2010 and NATO is all sound and fury, signifying…hypocrisy, loss of trust, broken promises…and tx Mark for the introduction to Professor Cohen! What a mind! What a profound understanding of Russia…I can imagine he was not a frequent guest in DC, in spite of him being nearby in Princeton!!

It's hard keeping track of all this, and Cohen's interview was already in the past for me. However, it was just exceptionally cogent. Tx.

It’s late and I’m not at my computer so I’m just going to do a short hit now and follow up with a comment Saturday.

Do follow this link twitter.com/ClimateAudit/status/1499930213928607749 to a short Stephen McIntyre thread where he makes a couple good points wrt how thoroughly avoidable this war was, and then read the ridiculous replies. Each one is instructive in its own way, but the big one is from Kevin Roche -@healthyskeptic- a handful of replies from the top.

As I said, I’ll comment Saturday, but for any who are familiar with McIntyre’s long body of fundamentally honest and honorable work and who also have tried to squeeze the good from Roche’s blog while stomaching the bad, I’ll just say now that his reply is, shall we say, clarifying.

Read it - you’ll see. I want nothing so much right now as to go on a long and spirited name-calling spree, but I’ll bottle that up for tonight and try to say something constructive tomorrow instead.

McIntyre is a go to guy.

As I mentioned in a previous post, have gotta get Pres Z out of the way and have EU, UK, and US start to negotiate w/Russia. It won't be pretty and Ukraine may lose some territory and some notoriety but if we don't step up and do this it'll get worse as in no more Ukraine. Pres Z has to stop crying wolf at every turn and encourage the powers (EU, UK, US) to begin negotiations on their behalf.

Have you considered the possibility that "the powers" here are already getting what they want? Another manufactured crisis.

Isn't all that a little too late now?

Ehrlich has a good proposal which could be utilized by NATO members if they wished to avoid what might otherwise be seen as a legal obligation leading to a primary source of the conflict with Russia. However, the degree of corruption associated with the current Ukraine could theoretically be reduced and made acceptable to NATO, without at the same time solving Russia's security objections. Thus, his argument is irrelevant to the root of the problem.

Well well. Looking forward to MSNBC talking about color revolutions and CIA regime change plays next.
