Hans Manchke Twitter feed:

“American taxpayers have spent trillions defending Europe. American blood and treasure bailed Europe out of two world wars.”

The only reason Macron is able to get away with his ungrateful babble is that the American ruling class *loves* playing hot and cold war games over there.

By the way, Macron is musing about "strategic autonomy" as independence from the US at a historic moment when the European peace order entirely relies on US strategic leadership and military support (for Ukraine); while France is doing just the minimum.

The end of NATO? Or the end of the US hegemonic version of NATO?

US led NATO is a (not very effective) offensive military pretending to be a defensive military. At some point reality needs to be recognized.

Every time that I think the stench can’t get any worse, it does. As an American I am embarrassed at how truly despicable the people are that lead this country. Having served in the military, I am humiliated at what a horrible joke it has morphed into.

I have no words to express my contempt for bill barr-name not capitalized on purpose.

And now I see that miss Lindsay thinks that it would be a good idea to ratchet things up with China over Taiwan. We’re in the midst of a disastrous proxy war that has “Doom” written all over it, so lets do something else even more stupid and start another war with the people who supply basically everything that we need to function as a nation! I wonder if one of Lindsay’s ancestors advised Napoleon that invading Russia in the winter was a clever plan?

Is that really Medvedev? Good grief.

All the world's a stage... and Biden was not a mistake.

I want to live long enough to find out why, but that might be the sin of "curiositas".

Medvedev is incredibly and brutally direct here. Sarcasm usually involves some sort of indirect but derisive speech playing on irony. I don't think Medvedev is either indirect or being ironical. It just sort of seems that way because we NEVER hear someone in an official role with diplomatic repercussions speaking this way. IMO, it is a measure of how strong he sees Russia's position (and his) to be vis a vis Ukraine at this point.

The translation softened the original text. Medvedev's posts cause a lot of ridicule among Russians (he really looks like a sheep in a wolf's clothing). However, he has not fired his copywriter yet. Maybe he doesn't want to be seen as a potential next president, or he wants to express that attitude, preferring pleasant security (however illusory) to status and burdens. In any case, I would not take his revelations for granted. A more interesting question: why is he allowed to frolic like that? This says something about the prevailing mood and climate in our ruling elite.

Brilliant!!!

In an idiotic sort of way.

Old JB must have come up with that idea himself? Or perhaps Fetterman?

I can provide valuable information. The formidable weapon most feared by Russians is the LGBT+ movement. If the United States armed gay and transgender special forces and sent them to the Ukrainian front, then the sight of rainbow flags would inevitably cause panic among the Russian military, they would drop their weapons and run away to the 1991 borders. Dear FBI, now please change my future for the better.

I was under the impression that the world now knows that working with the US never ends well for them, ie. "How The U.S. Betrayed Its Afghan Allies And Left Them Behind".

Or maybe, in its extreme arrogance, the fbi never got the memo continues to think they are globally respected.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry! Perhaps in lieu of Peter Graves, our betters in the Pentagon could reach out to Tom Cruise? That might do it! And the Bee - they now rival Monty Python!!! But it all gets somber when Alex/Alexander (the latest Duran) bring up the burning of R Orthodox churches by Ukrainians in Western Ukraine, something our media is silent about…especially Mercouris seemed distraught, in contrast to his usual tough-upper-lip manner when delivering updates from the war zone. Anyway, a Happy Easter to you and family, and to other commenters!

I really wanted to believe the docs were leaked from a patriot on the inside, but my gut wouldn't let me. China plays the long game, Russia plays the long game, and we've got no joke biden, his predecessors, congress/senate, and the deep state doing their dirty work. . . for money.

Why does anyone think that a new trump administration would be staffed by better people? His biggest weakness appears to be an inability to choose good people.

I don't know if Trump could have kept Matt Whitaker as acting AG. But if he had to pick someone else and that someone had to be approved by the Senate including Willard "Mitt" Romney, compromised, closeted Lindsay Graham and Susan Collins, then he was going to be stuck with someone only half okay, at best.
