No kidding. They must wonder how the leadership can bankrupt the country financially and morally while depleting our military resources after having devastated our industrial capability.
Agree 100% but it does embolden the blob, though arguably the collective delusion is so complete that maybe it makes no real difference? Crooke says as much. Dangerous times.
For years I couldn't figure out why Israel was constantly bombing Syria. Today, though busy elsewhere, Israel again brutally bombed Syria. The only answer is that to the US there's no difference between Syria and Russia, both of whom they want dead. US keeps Israel around as "partner" in its war on Syria and Russia. In 2013 neocons were enraged that Obama wasn't bombing Syria and Iran, so they attacked Obama as "weak": "The neocons were apoplectic that they failed to convince Obama to order a massive bombing campaign and escalate his covert proxy war in Syria and at the receding prospect of a war with Iran. Fearing their control of U.S. foreign policy was slipping, the neocons launched a campaign to brand Obama as “weak” on foreign policy and remind him of their power...Obama invited [Washington Post's] Kagan to a private lunch at the White House, and the neocons’ muscle-flexing pressured him to scale back his diplomacy with Russia, even as he quietly pushed ahead on Iran."...6/23/2014, "Obama’s True Foreign-Policy ‘Weakness’," Consortium News; 1/19/2021, "Who is Victoria Nuland? ‘…little to no public debate.’ Great write up Mark. The last sentence is a great comment on the state of the Republic or (insert regime type here) and reflects the habits of mind of the ruling class. There is no need to involve the peasants/kulaks in these discussions. We would ask too many questions. What, exactly, have hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians died for? What is it that you expect our children to die for?
To protect their wealth is why they demand we sacrifice and die for them and their families. It’s not to protect this country nor for the benefit of humanity. Also it’s for their democracy, not our constitutional republic.
I imagine that Iran will nuance its response as Russia has done in the wake of Crocus: launch counter-attacks that are significant and impactful but which aren't enough to trigger a US response.
They are patiently observing how we deplete our resources, throw away the tax payers wealth, ours, not theirs, and see deepening fissures of the USA and the corresponding fears of the people. They see weakness hidden by hubris.
What would be significant enough to trigger a U.S. response?
My guess is either a large scale attack in the continental U.S. or the sinking of a U.S. warship.
Otherwise, The Democratic base / coalition including Michigan is a higher priority.
And I pray the Biden Administration is worried if there is a military confrontation, the U.S. could be severely embarrassed with heavy casualties with the bad shape the U.S. military is in. But, reading various blogs the Western Leaders seem to have a delusional / over estimation / hubristic view of Western Military capabilities, and are in denial on Russian / Iranian military capabilities.
On the Russian Crocus response, I would not want to be a relative of anyone involved… once Russia finishes digging out the network, I expect a quiet, but bloody response. Remember the Soviet response to the kidnapping of their diplomat in Lebanon. And the theater was owned by someone, Azerbaijani Billionaire, that probably took this attack personally.
It really does seem as if Russia, Iran et al are following Napoleon's advice of never interrupting your enemies while they are making mistakes.
