It's hard to fathom the Poles. They have just voted for national suicide. Tusk is the archetypal WEF stooge.

Amazing place, amazing people. Yet, as you say, they seem to find the modern world rather a conundrum.

Don’t worry about it, Joe, they tell him. Tonight you can have pudding and ice cream.

I almost, but somehow didn't, fell out of my chair when I discovered that "my" Congresscritter (Roger Williams TX25) actually voted NAY on the NDAA, he must have felt heat from somewhere! Of course "my" 2 esteemed Sin-ators dutifully voted AYE. Thanks a lot, Rafael(Ted) & John . . . /s

I don't know... can we maybe vote for Putin for President? After all, he seems to be the only politician in the world who actually tells the truth, actually wants peace, actually values traditional morality, and actually is sane. Chances are any American patriots will eventually be accused of Russian collusion anyway (haven't we already been via Trump proxy?), so why not do the write-in vote?.

You say he is not qualified to be President because he is not a natural born citizen of the U.S.? Since when has that made any difference? See Obama, Cruz, and Rubio for the latest examples.

In the broader scope of things, since when has the U.S. Constitution made any difference? "Our" "elected" politicians don't care about it, why should we? Forget about Poland, will people in the U.S. come to their senses? It is to the point where we can no longer deny that those currently in power do not believe in natural law or legislated law or the authority of the Constitution ("Constitution, are you joking?" - N. Pelosi). Where does that leave us? I will tell you where: facing duplicitous tyrants who will not think twice about depriving us of our rights and even our lives.

Are they all racist Malthusians? TBD I suppose but I'll bet this is coming to a TV network and a Western government near you:

Oh and I forgot to add Nimarata to the NBC "disqualified" list. Not that it matters.

NBC DQ'd office holders : VP & Pres. Chester A. Arthur, Pres. B.H O'Zero, VP K. Heresy

NBC DQ'd candidates: Rafael Cruz, Lil Marco Rubio, Vivek (the cobra) Ramaswamy + who knows who else since verification is not mandatory to appear on the ballot.

I am seriously considering leaving my country for good, unless the 2nd Republic of Texas comes into being very soon.

So d**n depressing.

It's a tired old cliché, Ellie, but things do have to get worse before they can get better. Most people don't want the disruption that revolutions and social upheaval bring. They are only pushed into action when their direct interests and well-being are threatened. We are not quite there yet.

Funny, I always heard that it was darkest just before the bottom falls out.

Or was it, cheer up, things could get worse. So I cheered up and sure enough things got worse.

Sorry, couldn’t resist a little gallows humor. At this point, if I don’t laugh, I may start to cry.

I like the one the Berliners used to say in 1944: "Enjoy the war. The peace will be terrible!" Who said Germans don't have a sense of humour?

There's plenty of hope. People often get angry at God and ask why Goodness so often seems to lose. However, you could turn that around: why, with all its massive resources and power, has Evil never fully triumphed? Let's all do our bit in 2024 to jam a stick in the spokes of Evil.

Well, at least the crazy looking guy in Argentina is still one of us. Oh, wait, he's got a page all of his own at the WEF website. Seriously, people still don't get it: there is no solution from inside the system. None.

Yes, and he had the Z-man in town for his swearing-in, following up on that with a commitment of two Russian-made military transport helos to the Ukraine war effort. Inconsequential militarily, but a clear signal that previous hopes for Argentina going full-on BRICS (or, at a minimum, nonaligned) were misplaced.

He was also chief economist at a private pensions fund company 40% owned by a homely little mom-and-pop outfit called Blackrock. He's taking Argentina out of Brics and linking the nation's economic destiny to the US dollar. Apart from that, I'm sure he's a bona fide anarcho-capitalist.

Bingo. Pathetic to see the usual libertarians touting this latest man-made disaster for a country that should be wealthy.

I'm amazed at people who think that the Argentina election was some kind of victory for sanity.

I've talked to a few Argentinian acquaintances and the main view among thinking folk there is that it was desperation. They are so sick and tired of the Peronism and socialism that has destroyed what should be one of the world's top countries, that they are prepared to give anyone a chance who isn't from the ruling elite. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Every time I think that maybe we get the real deal in DC, they stab us in the back! I thought Johnson might just be solid, WRONG. It’s always, always, always the same ol crap. Hunter flips the bird to a subpoena, what do the Republicans do? Not a damn thing. Myorkas and Wray lie their sorry asses off, what do the Republicans do? Not a damn thing.

The Jan. 6 political prisoners languish away without regard for their constitutional rights, what do the Republicans do? Not a damn thing! The US government and its agencies are being used as bludgeons to subdue and silence citizens, what do the Republicans do? Not one damn thing.

Now I know how Charlie Brown feels about Lucy and the football and I’m pretty much through falling for the SOS again and again.

Full disclosure, have to admit that I don’t know what we need to do to fix this mess, but I’m certainly not convinced that voting different people in is going to solve the problem. I’m all ears though.

Our leaders are a mixture of neocons and Bolsheviks. People like that NEVER give up power. That's why they will stop Trump at all and any cost. The hope - and there is hope - is that their arrogance and stupidity will be their downfall. As you say, Frances, there will probably be some kind of massive crack-up if the elections are stolen again.

Expand full comment

Yes but they could/would still have elections - just not legitimate ones. They could be the third-world kind where the "Joe Biden" party candidate gets >80-90% of the vote or they could be where that candidate just happens to squeeze in every time. Will this next election be legitimate? I unfortunately have my doubts because the Republicans have done nothing to put up guardrails against its potential illegitimacy.

Frances, the problem is that even were Trump to win and be inaugurated, I doubt whether he would be able to achieve much. The DS is too deeply entrenched. It pains me to say it, but the only solution is some kind of parting of the ways where the still-sane parts of the nation isolate themselves as much as possible from the DC and coastal crazies. What form that takes and how it will be achieved are another question.

Expand full comment

Agreed that events/false flags could be conjured up should Trump win. It is reasonable (IMO) to assume that the PTB and the blob will do everything they can to deny Trump getting elected and then if he is elected denying him any kind of functional power. This is something that will have to happen to have any chance of reducing the power of government civil service and appointed employees and the extent of the powers of the federal government. It will also be, though, very volatile and unpredictable in its effects. The Supreme Court will be very important in this as well. One way or another, the weaknesses of our current system WILL be exposed eventually (indeed, they are being exposed now).
