Gas is 12.5% higher this afternoon from when I topped off my tank on Saturday afternoon. Back to $3.00 for your 87 unleaded.

Per Rubio us attacked because it knew Israel would attack, and Iran would hit U.S. bases.

..... Of.... Things...... Forgotten ..... That Should Not Have Been

Promises Promises

US Strategic Oil Reserves

Reportedly:

The Biden administration's 180-million-barrel drawdown in 2022 saw reserves drop to about

~ 347 million barrels by July 2023

Trump began adding but not earnestly - though promises were made to fill it

As of late February 2026, the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) holds approximately ~ 415 million barrels of crude oil.

The SPR has a total authorized storage capacity of roughly 714 million barrels, meaning it is currently filled to just under ~ 60% capacity.

The current level is up from the ~347 million barrel low in 2023 but remains well below the ~638 million barrels held at the end of 2020.

. ----- I imagine it was not filled because there was not readily available money to fill it

The Biden decision to remove and Trump failure to fill may haunt us.

John Mearsheimer (15 minute clip): Why Does Israel Want Another Failed War?

https://youtu.be/pj0p1-IbosE

Clyde Griffith's avatar

Jeff Sachs w/ Saagar: never heard him so passionate: "This is the fulfillment of Netanyahu's 40-year dream ... he is a murderous psychopath ..."

Col. Wilkerson w/ Danny Haiphong translated comments Netanyahu made, in Hebrew. The statement concluded with (something like), "If this seems to be ending badly, they are in for a big surprise," which Wilkerson took to mean use of nuclear weapons.

--Are there any states in the region, or any leaders and 'defenders of USA' strong, sane and sober enough to overrun Dimona and secure Israel's nukes?

"Israel must be destroyed."

Not if Tucker Carlson has a say.

Contrast: Carlson Responds to Israel’s War on Iran (03/02/26) https://rumble.com/v76ix48-tucker-carlson-responds-to-israels-war-on-iran.html

with

Macgregor: A New World Emerges: Iran Will Win & Israel May Not Survive

https://glenndiesen.substack.com/p/douglas-macgregor-a-new-world-emerges

One major difference I perceive is Carlson has simmered since Episcopal boarding school & marriage to headmaster's daughter, in British Protestant, enthrallment with the 'people of the book,' while MacGregor recognizes that Iran is an ancient civilization.

Mark Wauck's avatar

Yes, I listened last night--Mac finally surfaced. He's been predicting this ever since the first one. Perhaps the most important point he made was that if Israel uses a nuke then Russia and China will intervene, including against the US.

Mark Wauck's avatar

I suppose the other striking point, kinda, was when Diesen asked, What will Trump do next? and Mac said: Listen to Netanyahu--Trump will do what Netanyahu tells him to do. Which really fuels notions of outright blackmail. After all, how much would you need to pay someone to destroy themself?

Clyde Griffith's avatar

Other reports about Carlson's three visits to White House to talk Trump out of attack. Finally, Trump said, "I can't."

The concluding paragraph/chapter is missing: WHY can't Trump say No to Netanyahu? It has to be more than Miriam's Money. Signals from my tinfoil hat whisper vaguely, "Jared . . .Ivanka . . .Barron" Threatening one's children is is not outside Bibi's playbook, and is excruciatingly powerful. Perhaps that's why the Iranian schoolgirls were among the first on the target list.

--Listened a second time: surprised that Incerlik was hit. This takes some constraints off the Turks which must cause agita in TelAviv.

Wondering About Yemen / Houthi

I've looked but as far as I know - no statements about Yemen Houthi

active engagements

Though ' statement(s) of support ' condeming the aggression

and readiness for " any necessary development " to support Iran.

I imagine they possibly have something - worked out in advance - in the case of

communication issues - where Yemen may aide ?

Just do not know

Analysis of when anti missiles will run out, probably 2-3 more days:

https://voxday.net/2026/03/02/the-exhaustion-timeline/

And Mark has written Iran is using older Weapons to soak up the interceptors.

Tamsin's avatar

I fear that Israel has some nasty tricks yet to play, like they sat on those pagers for a long, long time, and so they will not cry "uncle" as soon as these calculations suggest. And no, it won't be their nukes, it will be something even more cruel and painful. For the terror.

Mark Wauck's avatar

Thanks. I just read the long NYT account of how the final decision--really the decision about the shape of the war, not whether there would BE a war. What's clear is that none of the players expected a war past a few days. Trump initially seems to have envisioned a *limited* war to force Iran to capitulate to Anglo-Zionist demands. More surprisingly, considering the public narrative so far, Veep Vance argued strongly for *big* fast strike. Now they're finding out that Iran gets a say in the shape of the war, and they're not prepared for that.

They seem to be pretty ineffective as it is?

To paraphrase Mike Tyson, they didn't have a plan and now they are going to get punched in the mouth.

Ray-SoCa's avatar

My take:

1. Raytheon has no competition for the Patriot missile. Meaningful Defense Contractors in the US have been reduced to 5 or 6. Thank you Bill Clinton!

2. In Military Politics, anti missiles are probably low priority for funding. Airforce wants more fighters or bombers, Navy more ships, and Army more tanks and such. The US has had air superiority since WW2, over 50 years, so anti air ability has been a low priority. And anti aircraft ability is related to anti missile and drone ability.

3. Raytheon has no incentive to increase production if it impacts their financial returns. Why invest in expanding production, when demand may go back to normal levels?

4. Technology is old, and has never worked well. There were issues in the Gulf War with Patriot missiles.

5. Anti Drone Technology is still an issue, and using a Patriot missile to shoot down a drone is a huge waste of money.

6. There is a huge cost issue where a million dollar missile, with minimal production, is needed to take down a couple of thousand dollar drone.

Nevermind the Molochs's avatar

(another) great list Ray. On no.6 the Defense Sec Hegseth has apparently been saying this. But only as a prelude to telling Qatar, Bahrain, et al that the all-singing all-swervy MIC warez are only for Unky Benj, sorry guys. Gotta prioritize.

What an absolutely senseless cataclysm this is.

In spite of the "no boots on the ground" assurances (Trump is already hedging), look next for some magical-thinking based "surgical strike" excursions that will go tragically awry.

D F Barr's avatar

Word is that the word has already gone out looking for volunteers to sign up with the civilian contractor outfits. Like everything else in the Empire economy, subcontract it out.

Mark Wauck's avatar

As I've argued in the recent past, this war is existential for both sides. Trump and the Anglo-Zionists need a *complete* victory to prevent collapse of the empire. That makes them desperate.

Joe's avatar

MOA has a decent article on that

In Short:

US

Must Contain or Control China Oil Supply

Whether that be Country of Source or Shipping Route

By Land or by Sea

Or Go Broke Tryin'

Venezuela Nigeria Iran

Northwest Passage / Greenland - Panama Canal

China Sea Red Sea Baltic Sea

.

Mark Wauck's avatar

Yes. And China must control US rare earths supply.

Mark Wauck's avatar

This is definitely NOT a good starting point.

https://www.theamericanconservative.com/on-the-iran-war-they-think-youre-stupid/

Almost every major poll showed that Americans overwhelmingly did not want the U.S. to go to war with Iran prior to the attacks. Americans were not asked, hypothetically, “Do you want Trump to end the current U.S.–Iran war?” because few to no Americans perceived their country as being in a war with that country.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll taken Saturday after the U.S. strikes and published Sunday found that, “Only one in four Americans approves of the U.S. strikes that killed Iran’s leader on Saturday, while about half — including one in four Republicans — believe President Donald Trump is too willing to use military force…”

The survey added, “Some 27% of respondents said they approved of the strikes, while 43% disapproved and 29% were not sure.”

ROBERT Incognito's avatar

Actually, the majority of Americans are, in fact, really really stupid. Unless one spends hours per day reading reliable substack accounts like MIH and simplicius garden of knowledge (and others), instead of allowing mainstream media to fill their brains with biased propaganda (Fox News on one end of the spectrum and MS-NOW on the other), and have critical thinking skills, don’t have (media induced) TDS, and aren’t rabid Anglo Zionists supporters, their knowledge is not reality but rather what elites want them to think and believe. Unfortunately, the total number Americans who have the time, desire and ability to ascertain

reality is so minuscule as to be irrelevant within the population. The polls are merely a reflection of the different political propaganda sides and the bias of the polls and poll takers.

I'm still not sure about this Prof. Jiang person and his "Predictive History" based on game theory.

This guest appearance interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ql24Z8SIeE

opens with his 2024 3-part prediction:

Trump will win

Trump will go to war against Iran

Iran will win.

His follow-up comments explain how Iran will destroy critical infrastructure, including water desalination that will utterly destroy the ability of the targeted state to function.

OTOH, Jiang agrees that Saudis may have been closely involved in attack on Iran; and also that ground troops will be called for, again, pushed by Saudis for whom survival in the region is 'existential.'

In Additional to structures essential for that State's existence, the analysis chains other systems that, Jiang claims, US depends upon for its economic survival.

My overall impression is that Iran is a "weapon", the warrior-state that the Chinese/BRICs alliance has raised up, supplied, strategized, to destroy American presence in West Asia, optimistically, to flip-the-script on Bibi & Huckabee: BRICS intends to vanquish British-American dominance of Gulf States and draw them into the BRICS orb.

Abraham has left the building.

Going to war against the express opinion of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and (crucially) "losing" while committing War Crimes, breaking cornerstone UN principles and NOT getting Congressional Approval - all taken together would certainly meet the definition of "High Crimes and Misdemeanours".

Yep. Impeachment fodder for when the vile Ds retake the House at the mid-terms.
