A Secret Service whistleblower claims that former President Joe Biden was so out of it at the White House that he would “get lost in his closet,” Sen. Josh Hawley revealed Friday.
The Russia Hoax article asserts that the statute of limitations has run. However, I wouldn't be so sure of that. If steps were taken to hide evidence of criminal conduct, the original time frame of the SOL may not apply.
Exactly. The purpose of the SOL is emphatically NOT to provide a loophole for well connected criminals. I'm surprised that Mahnke, a lawyer, doesn't raise that. It's easy to do a search like this one "purpose of criminal statute of limitations" and come up with explanations like this one:
"Statutes of limitations were enacted **to ensure fair, accurate trials.** People should not have to worry indefinitely about the potential to face criminal charges."
The basic idea is that trials should take place while evidence is readily available and the recollection of witnesses is fresh. It's not supposed to be a technical stay out of jail free card. Note that one of the purposes is NOT to allow people to escape prosecution by lying under oath and having their friends hide the evidence.
This may be the Chinese central government looking to get tighter control over the military. For most of the time in the past the military has operated with a great degree of independence in these types of business ventures, and with a great deal of corruption.
The elephant in the room is that our Justice and Law Enforcement institutions are fundamentally broken and cannot be fixed by tinkering around the edges with a pretense of reform. The public now rightfully views these organizations as corrupt-to-the-core and nothing less than a wholesale overhaul can even begin to remedy this situation. Many people had hope that Bondi, Patel, and Bongino would at least try to fix this, but sadly, they too appear to have been compromised. As with the Soviet Union, nothing short of a collapse can save us from the inertia of corruption ruling DC. Luckily (or not), the coming financial disaster may be the trigger for that collapse. It bears repeating that no one foresaw the collapse of the Soviet Union, so when it happens, it will be a big surprise even here.
"Tinkering around the edges" is becoming ominously close to being Trump's epitaph. To date, we have zero arrests of deep state traitors, zero mass deportations and zero conflict shutdowns. I get it that in the first term he was a naive newbie, but he had 4 years in the wilderness to game things out. He acts as though his time in office is unlimited. He has to go for broke because the DS is going to show him no mercy whatsoever after 2028. Yes, it looks like we're going to have to go through a big collapse before we can hope for something better to emerge.
I see the collapse coming as a whimper, not a bang. We will continue to stumble along for many years. We may even go back to the model of managed decline that “The One We’ve Been Waiting For” was orchestrating. That consists of the elites managing the decline while stuffing their pockets. That’s partly why Trump and his movement has to be stopped in their eyes. He’s disrupting their personal enrichment. They of course believe that they will be immune to and protected from the collapse. Reality isn’t their strong suit.
Never forget that this country was founded by men who got fed up living under a corrupt regime and took action to build a better life for themselves and their progeny. Today, we stand on their shoulders and benefit from the fruit of their sacrifice. Our turn may soon be upon us. Ditto for the people of Europe. Methinks Ireland may lead the way very soon.
Even more reasons for James Comey to face consequences and wipe that smug, condescending smirk off his face. I don’t know about anyone else, but I am absolutely furious about all of this corruption and everyone who is responsible skating off into the sunset.
All of these people should face grievous consequences for their actions, but I’ll be totally shocked if anything happens, it’ll just be swept under the rug. Hey Tapper, here’s another BIG story that you and the Fourth Estate missed!!! Oh, and that goes for you as well Leslie Stahl and the rest of the “journalists” over at 60 Minutes. You guys wouldn’t know real journalism if you saw it in front of your face.
And therein lies Trump's weakness: he has no critical thinking skills of his own so has to rely on the advice of others. Once again, his appalling judgement of character has brought him down.
This one’s really good. Hans Manhke

Wasn't she the inspiration for "American Beauty"?
LOL. She’s a beauty alright. Probably look good in stripes.
Jeez, Cardi, give it a rest! I'm off for a cold shower.
Try some soap this time!
I'm a Brit. We never use that stuff.

Biden: the only Dem who refused to come out of the closet.
LOL. Or couldn't even though he tried.

To sedition and treason have statutes of limitation?
The "Discovery Rule". Mentioned in the post I just shared above.

Yeah Hans doesn’t mention it.
Interesting that the Chinese military purge coincides with stopping drone supplies to Ukraine.

There’s another Chyna military purge under way? Sure seems very risky to try and advance in the ranks over there. What a retirement system.

I'd add the entire educational system (K-12, colleges and universities) to the list of institutions that need reform to the core as well.

The only difference is that this time there's no virgin lands to move to and start afresh.

60 Minutes would by more aptly named The Propaganda News Hour.
Nice reporting by Trump's favorite, The Federalist.
I understand "The Federalist" website and the Federalist Society aren't related. I looked it up
after reports today that Trump is furious with Federalist Society for giving him bad advice on judicial nominations.
And therein lies Trump's weakness: he has no critical thinking skills of his own so has to rely on the advice of others. Once again, his appalling judgement of character has brought him down.
