My late father was a staunch conservative Democrat from a German Catholic family of Democrats. My parents, like yours, had eight children. After he died, his remaining two siblings peeled away from the Democrats after Obama came on the scene, as did my mother. Mom died two years ago. Faith in God sustained that generation of my family.
It's great to see the Dems savaging each other. Pelosi attacking Zhou, Dem senators conspiring to force Sotomayor to resign, Joy Reid saying Hispanics have to "own what they did to the country," various Dem governors expressing their fear and hatred--supposedly for Trump, but Trump being a proxy for, well, us.
Tumult, infighting, insults flying - isn’t this the disunity party? The only thing uniting the Dems was the evil Trump! Otherwise they have nothing holding them together except - in the wake of Nov 5 - reproach and anger. Good going! A constructive vision for the future! And now Trump will be able to plan for his successor, something the Dems have completely failed to do.
Kama Surra and the Dems made their case for abortion and Trans rights. Voters said it’s immigration and the economy stupid. Watching MSDNC blame the voters and Biden for this. (Joy Reid is a special treat). Pelosi today threw Biden and Harris under the bus today too stating Biden should have removed himself from the primary. Well Nancy you had. A front row seat and did nothing u til it’s too late.
She lacks self awareness big time. Anyone willing to give her the feedback? CNN,ABC, MSDNC? Didn’t think so.
It's not the fault of Pelosi or the media that they covered up Biden's mental decline. It's his fault, or Harris' fault. They have no shame and learn nothing.
Indeed. The biggest fault of people like Pelosi and the vast majority of progressive democrats is the inability for self reflection. They will lash out in hatred, shift blame, lie, and accuse never accepting they were wrong. They are a truly sorry lot and their rigid ideology is the problem.
Trump won because 14M Dems who voted Biden in 2020 (likely reluctantly) didn't turn out for Harris. Trump also got 2M fewer votes than in 2020. Neither of these candidates is popular -- and that said, Harris was a lot more unpopular than Trump.
Swing voters were not a factor, despite Dems trying to make that happen w/ repugnant embrace of Dick, Liz Cheney & neocon warmongers -- Trump got 5% Dem crossover voters and Harris got 5% R crossover voters.
Agree that shifts to R were about economy, immigration. Also because of the US-Israel genocide of Palestine, which MSM/Dem media blacked out/avoided addressing in post-mortems. Concerted silence around that in US polls, media.
One telling sign/twist is that anti-genocide Green Party candidate Jill Stein got only 0.4% of vote, despite widespread revulsion re ongoing genocide supported by both Harris and (as far as we know) Trump. I think a lot of Arab-Americans/allies in swing states -- who traditionally vote Dem but were voting against genocide -- went ahead and voted for Trump, instead of 3rd party, to punish Harris/Dems and make sure she lost.
The vote in Dearborn MI bears that out. Dearborn went 88% Biden in 2020. This year, it was 42.5% Trump, 36% Harris and 18% Stein. "If there's a 99% chance that Trump will keep the genocide going, that's still better than the 100% chance that the Democrats will keep it going."
He asked 36 Arab-Americans in Dearborn MI who they were voting for. 19 said Trump, 13 said no vote and only 2 said Harris & 2 said Stein. No. 1 issue was the genocide. (He mostly asked Arab-American men, who, like Latinos, are culturally conservative -- a few said they're anti-LGBTQ / woman prez.)
==> We need a new anti-war, economic populist, pro-regular people party. The Dem-Repub paradigm is over -- both parties are bought by Big Biz, Wall Street, war contractors and billionaire Zionist donors.
Thank you Mark for your continued great analysis. I don’t comment very often but your column is one of my two go to sites for updates on geopolitics and other topics every single day.
I appreciate all of your analysis and effort to provide links to your sources which I’d never have time to do myself while still working full time in my late fifties.
My husband (retired firefighter) and I have been on what felt like an isolated island all alone except for the great commenters on this site and one or two others.
All of our friends, kids, families and neighbors (with a rare few exceptions here and there) are all Dems taken in by the grift of Orange Man Bad for a long time.
This was our 3rd time voting for Trump. We’ve been to one rally in our now home state of GA having been born and raised in the Adirondacks (husband) and Long Island (me).
This election has been a surreal experience. I understood more than my husband what was at stake. I would read to him portions of your column each day while he used his great cooking skills learned at the fire house to put dinner on the table.
Tomorrow we will see our daughters and their husbands for first time since election. They have shared their fear of the future because they bought into the Agenda 2025 narrative having been indoctrinated at UGA.
For me personally, raised Catholic by my now deceased loving parents who differed in political party affiliation, I feel so much lighter today. This has been a war from within for so many years now and this win is the first of so many battles to come.
I just wanted to take a moment to come out of the shadows to thank you for sharing your research, your wisdom, your family and your faith. As well as to my fellow readers of this needed site for additional views and links to even more insight and analysis.
Allygirl1, all I can say is ditto. Catholic, family of 10, only 1 sibling that understands. We are not alone. And Mark, you have no idea how valued you are!
If you are successful with event flipping your children and spouses please share your secret sauce as I too have a born and bred Chicago Democrat machine wife in my household who is terrified of the proverbial Agenda 2025.
Allygirl1, you are very eloquent, have a compelling story, and have views that are just as important and valid and well-stated as anyone here. I hope we see more comments from you (according to your comfort level)!
It's really sad to see young women sobbing, saying they're giving up on marriage and children, shaving their heads, etc.
Some conservative sites are mocking them. Part of me wants to gloat, but the better part of my nature realizes that these poor young people were indoctrinated. They need prayers and good family and friends who can lead them back from the abyss.
Same here FF. Our friends of 30+ years are good people but they get there news from MSM. TDS all the way. As the new administration comes together, we’ll continue to hope that Trump has learned to reject a role for Pompeo and to not support another RINO like Thune or Cornyn for Majority Leader. We hope and pray he surrounds himself with the best people to save America from itself.

Sure it is. She knew of his mental lapses and took the risk of allowing him to put forth a second term. Now blames Zhou. She’s completely culpable.
AC,
We agree. That was sarcasm (to Pelosi, et. al,).
Indeed. The biggest fault of people like Pelosi and the vast majority of progressive democrats is the inability for self reflection. They will lash out in hatred, shift blame, lie, and accuse never accepting they were wrong. They are a truly sorry lot and their rigid ideology is the problem.
AC,
My unspoken point is well captured by Cosmo's comment on the lack of self-reflection. Kudos to Cosmo for making the point much better than I.
Thank you for your nice comment.

On Monday I watched this video from Dulla Mulla, a super-popular Yemeni-American YouTuber in Detroit, which clinched it for me that Trump wld win.

P.S. Sorry post is so long -- stopping US-Israel genocide is my No. 1 issue. Plus, I'm in swing state of GA.
Don’t let it swing Meredith!
So now Trump faces a dilemma. Muslims gave him a very important win in Michigan. Will he walk away from them?

Nothing that a swift kick in the arse, shot and beer to help them along. I’m all in for shaved heads.

Saw today Congressman Roger’s R-AL possibly for DoD. Not a fan of this warmonger.
