Before we get to reports from the war front, I’ll quickly reference the point that Alex Mercouris made this morning that sets out what this futile Ukrainian offensive is really all about.
Today comments from Stoltenberg suggested NATO guarantees for Ukraine. Can't remember where on Twitter I saw these... however I do believe NATO will get more involved, engaged, and will escalate this. THEY cannot allow Russia to win.
On the one hand Mercouris has been saying this. My response is, How? By what specific means short of igniting either a massive hypersonic strike on the entire West, or outright nuclear war. I don't see the alternatives.
Alistair Crook said as much, today. Who has the means to go to Russia to wage war? Not even the US can do that. Peripheral attacks? Very dangerous. Russia has abundant means for retaliation.
The big questions now are to what extent the governments of the West are willing to push the fallacy of a Ukrainian victory? And how far can they push Russia to their benefit (in their minds) without starting a nuclear war? The West has no way of winning conventionally, either militarily or economically - and the more intelligent of them know it. So what is left and what next?
The scary thing is that virtually no politicians in the West are willing to stand up and yell "stop!" because they are all paid off and/or blackmailed off, both in the U.S. and in Europe. As evidence:
The common people are being "gaslighted by idiots" as Luongo puts it. But behind that the useful idiot politicians are acting as agents (unwitting or not) to destroy Western Civilization and nationalism. The globalists want to destroy nations by whatever means possible. Everything that happens and everything they do should be read through that motivation.
Without air support, this offensive never had a chance- literally zero chance- of accomplishing anything other than getting the troops killed and the armaments destroyed. It was always going to be like shooting fish in a barrel, with the Ukrainians doing the swimming.
In reply to your last question, I would say most Americans are wide awake. On American Thinker today, there is an article entitled "A Government at War with Its People" By J.B. Shurk" He states:
Warfare requires deception. The federal government habitually lies to the American people. Consider that an admission that it sees itself at war with those it claims to serve.
Actually I find our government quite candid. Just about everything they do is not in our interest. We 'deplorables' are openly attacked as Public Enemy #1. They repudiate us. We have every cause to repudiate them and their actions. This may change, but until further notice....
Very informative recap. In answer to your last question, when will Americans wake up, we can add, when will the Euros wake up. The Poles are having second thoughts now; then there’s Hungary, and in Germany the tide is massively turning against the Greens to AfD. I found most interesting in this regard Judge N’s conversation w A Crooke about Europe.
My personal experience tells a different story. But I guess it depends on the place and time. I used to spend my summer holidays in the suburbs of Dnepropetrovsk until the early 90s, and in retrospect I don’t see much difference between our neighbors there and, say, residents of the Saratov region, even less so anywhere in the south of Russia. The effects of anti-Russian propaganda became noticeable closer to the 2010s. Example: one of my cousins (lives in Ukraine) broke off all relations with her sister (lives in Russia), considering her a traitor for this reason. Both are Ukrainians.
Of course, the war did its dirty deed. The question is whether it is possible to restore relations, to what extent and how long it may take. Oleg Tsaryov insists on positive answers. Hope so.
And the general attitude towards them in central Ukraine was rather cool. My great-grandmother was very suspicious of people from Galicia and other new western territories. "They are Westerners!" she was saying at any occasion. Strong lady, spoke only Ukrainian, as many of her age and her education level. Pity that I'm not capable to translate her connotations. Something like "Them bastards never mean no good!", but less emphatically.
Ahhh Poland (shaking head slowly in exasperation).
They always find a way to fuck things up.
They are the Joe Biden of Europe.

Western Ukraine is very different.

Thanks for the input. Scary. From personal experience, I've felt that anger.
