Help may come from unexpected quarters. Of course, it's definitely none of our business, but I can't resist the temptation to quote one of the Russian telegram channels (following Putin's ironic remark that Biden is the preferable of the two candidates):

“Immediately after March 17, a large-scale campaign to promote Biden for a second term will begin in Russia. Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators with posters reading “Biden is our US President” take to the streets of Russian cities. Banners with a smiling Biden and the sign “Our son of a bitch” will be hung along all routes. Singer Shaman* will compose the song “I am Biden, I’m crawling to the end**.” And somewhere in Washington, the eyes of stunned Democrats will be looking at all this.”

* A young Russian pop singer (not very good and rather stupid, but apparently supported by bureaucrats), who is trying to exploit the theme of patriotism, war, etc.

** A reference to his annoying hit “I am Russian, I am going to the end.”

“A majority of Generation Z voters believe former President Donald Trump would shake up the country for the better if he returns to the White House following the November election, according to a new poll. . . . Every age group except for 65 or older agreed that Trump would shake up the country for good, but Gen Z had the largest majority of voters who said so, the survey found.”

Another factor weighing Biden down with his base is his stance on Israel.

You think, Steg? I wonder. I think many Americans are reflexively pro-Israel. Because.

Certainly most Jewish Americans are pro-Israel. And aren't Big Money Jewish American donors pro-Israel?

I know Biden has a problem here on MiH with Israel, where the administrator and most readers are aware that there is a genocide going on, but are most Americans (or most Americans otherwise inclined to vote Dem [or allow their 'ballots' to be cast for them pro-Dem]) aware of the nasty little details of this war? Or, isn't support for Israel still a plus in a national election?

Question: How is Trump (who is of course courting Jewish American votes, too) going to manage the Israel issue?

There is a definite possibility that Ukraine collapses before the US election whether NATO tries to prevent that or not. If that should occur the impact on Biden should be devastating, although the Dems will of course blame the Republicans - as if $60 billion of additional funds could magically make troops and ammunition appear.

Agreed. I sense a definite undercurrent of resentment in some sectors re the amount of money being sent to Ukraine.

Not to mention the ire over the obscene amount of money being “lavished” on illegal aliens!! Now the idiot mayor of NY is trying to pedal a load of horse dung about how giving them 10,000.00 debt cards is a win for the city and will save money!! It’s hard to imagine anyone being stupid enough to think that people would believe squandering money upon lawbreakers is even a viable option let alone a “win” for those who are footing the bill.

Effective third party presidential runs always look the same- they take votes from the incumbent president or the incumbent party because they arise from intra-party dissatisfaction with the ruling executive. So Roosevelt cost Taft reelection of 1912, Wallace definitely hurt Humphrey in 1968, though I think Nixon would have won even if Wallace hadn't run, and Perot definitely cost Bush Sr. reelection in 1992, but Clinton would have won in 1996 even if Perot had not run again.

Kennedy, if he can get onto all the state ballots will hurt whoever the Democrat nominee is, so I expect the Democrats to conduct a scorched earth campaign to make sure he isn't on the ballots in any of the key states, and failing that, I expect someone will take a shot at assassinating him. The Democrats play for keeps.

That may be why RFK is in negotiations with the Libertarian party. They're already on the ballot in all states.

I’m surprised Trump is not giving the state of the union rebuttal.

Agreed. The most important Third Party candidate wasn't mentioned: Dominion

Look Steg, I talked to both the Governor and the Secretary of State of Georgia and they assured me that the Dominion voting machines are the safest and most reliable voting machines ever built and that is why the election of 2020 was the most secure in history. With assurances like that and from such honorable and upstanding politicians like these, what is there to worry about? :-0

*chuckle* ba-dum dum and the band plays on. Good one Steg. I wonder if people are now realizing the voting process is really compromised.

LJ: Much as I’d like to jump in and argue with your conclusions, can’t find the enthusiasm to do it. I think that you’ve pretty much summarized the way a lot of us think/feel about where the country stands right now and unfortunately it doesn’t bode well for our future. I hold onto the idea that perhaps enough people will wake up and realize how perilous the situation is and rally to the occasion, but I must admit it’s a very slim hope.

I guess it’s the curse of the “investing times” in which we live.

Hang in there guy, we may survive this mess after all.
