FWIW,

Biden is headed to Australia for a Quad meeting on 24 May.

Enroute he'll be stopping in Port Moresby, supposedly meeting with both the Papua New Guinea PM Marape, and as well, India's PM Modi.

I read the whole thing.

Without putting too fine a point on it, Sullivan is a blithering idiot.

The notion that the US can reindustrialize to any meaningful degree on the basis of "green energy" is utter nonsense. Cheap and abundant energy is the key to prosperity.

It’s more about making China a scapegoat for the coming economic issues, and justifying more money being funneled to Democratic Fundraisers and protecting their industries, rather than actually building a real industrial revival.

Build back better, shovel ready jobs, green new deal were earlier incarcerations of this policy. Solyandra was a poster child.

It may also be a warning to China of possible consequences if they keep supporting Russia, and de-dollarization.

I'm telling you, the American public as a whole is oblivious to the truth of what's going on in the world, or to any alternative explanation that attempts to makes sense of the nonsense (e.g., the Russians blew up their own pipeline, or maybe it was six guys on a rented yacht). The corporate media absolutely controls the message. My wild ass guess that only half the adult population pays attention to the news at all, and 90% of those that "do" get it from social media newsfeed headlines.

I ran into an old friend I haven't seen in years, ostensibly conservative but works in higher education at a top medical school. Said with conviction that Russia invaded Ukraine because Putin was terminally ill and wanted the country before he died. I literally got dizzy when I heard this. (When I say "literally" I mean "literally" not "virtually")

Point is, these people will never hear Macgregor. They'll never read RFK Jr's book because it wasn't hustled on Oprah or whatever. Fox fired the top rated and only bomb-thrower they have. It boggles my mind that how the mainstream media outlets are completely fungible and completely corrupted, trotting out uniform spoon-fed narratives and the public takes it as is.

Same issue here in U.K - population either totally captured or don't want to know. Thing is they've been working on the national psyche of the west for some 30 or 40 years. I seriously think most people will need to be deprogrammed at this point....

I don't doubt that a lot of people are "out of the loop" on all of the minutiae of foreign relations and politics in general. I know from experience when I spent years working 70+ hour weeks I had little clue what was happening politically or culturally. Yet, there ARE millions of people in this country whose personal experiences and beliefs are contrary to the messages promoted by the corporate media and who at least sense they are being lied to; and who would be outraged to know all that is going on now. What would/could the impact be if those of us who follow the truth start sharing our informed opinions and links to true information on the internet with their friends, family, and acquaintances? One thing for sure, if we don't do it no one else will. This is actually easier now than ever what with the internet, blogs, e-mail, video hosting services, etc. We are no longer captive to three networks and what they choose to report.

Did it really happen last month that hundreds of secret Pentagon documents which had purportedly been leaked, but had not entered public circulation yet, were seized into the exclusive control of the Washington Post, and now seem to have basically vanished? Or was that a dream

Wait a minute, isn't this the same Bluto who accepted Trump's nomination as Attorney General all those four years ago? Maybe he could tell us why he willingly became an agent of Trumpian chaos back then. Was it on false pretenses to undermine Trump? Oh, that would speak well of Bluto's devious character. But I suppose maybe his character has changed since then. What sort of opaque bubble does this guy live in?

In my estimation, the only way to revitalize our country is to phase out the income taxes and phase in a general tariff, assessed per pound of goods imported and applied equally across the board, paid directly to the States, and apportioned by population, who then decide how much to fund and by what means to fund the squatters in DC. Worked for a long time and would work again.

Great all around post. Thank you, Mark!

I just knew when I saw the Macgregor video earlier today that you would post it and highlight it. It provides such an excellent summation of his views regarding the wars over the last century and Ukraine in particular. Furthermore, for anyone who wants to enlighten a friend with the truth about the disaster that is Ukraine, this is a great video to use. Macgregor recounts the Western actions and Russian reactions that led to where we are today, and he does a great job of presenting the Russian perspective throughout this progression. "If you see only one Doug Macgregor video this year..."

As for Mr. Sullivan's attempt at a new Mideast neighborhood, "Would you be my, could you be my... lackey" comes to mind. After Ukraine, I don't think anyone in Europe or in BRICS+ is anxious to board the Zhou ship of fools again, especially while being lectured to and threatened. It doesn't seem this administration will ever be able to humble themselves or recognize the interests of others.
