Yes. I was shocked at how many “conservative” figures rushed to congratulate Rubin on his baby acquisition. He surely knew what he was doing with his announcement: cynically putting conservatives to the test. I expected most to see through the ploy and respond with at least polite silence on the matter. But instead we got a virtual baby shower.
Admittedly, Rubin does good work for our side. But lately he has abandoned the libertarian brand and taken to calling himself a conservative. If a conservative can rent a womb and doom a child to having “two daddies” and no mommy, “conservatism” has lost all meaning.
