We live on Marco Island. If Federalism is, in fact, raising its glorious head, DeSantis needs to stay put and lead other governors in the effort of stripping power from D.C. (10th). DeSantis in 2028 would be a far better Pres. than 2024.

Trump wins in 2024 and, with nothing to lose and vengeance his trait, he tears this sh*t out of D.C. Closes down useless Depts. Scatters the headquarters of the rest of them across the country. Literally gutting the power center of D.C.

In 2024, DeSantis doesn't have the political will to do that. He needs Trump to do it and step into the vacuum in 2028 and spend 8 yeas cementing the power of Federalism for decades if not centuries.

One of my favorite assessments of DeSantis from nearly two years ago:

"Tough as Trump, but with impulse control and deadlier aim."

I could get on board with that.

I agree with Luongo 100% in what he states in this column. It seems like DeSantis has a pretty spotless record (from an America First point of view) as both a Congressman and a Governor. Is he trustworthy? Or is he a cynical climber? Well, how do you know that about anybody - really all you have to go on is his record. But his record is unblemished to this point from an America First standpoint. Based on that he presents as an intelligent, logical, courageous defender of the law and of Conservative principles. I really don't know how a true Conservative could criticize him based on his statements or actions to this point. If it is all a game to get power, how would we know? How would we know about anybody else? At least he has put his actions and pen where his mouth has been to this point.

Franklin needs to spend some quality time in flyover states. Geez.

Trump needs to run and win in 2024 since that will likely be the closest we get to righting the wrong of the 2020 theft. And it's important that this wrong is righted.

Yes, unless something can be done before 2024. The anti-Trumpers and liberal media are all pushing DeSantis, and even the New York Post had an article saying Trump must stop contesting the last election. This is a mistake. We cannot just move on. There can be no power sharing with the Marxist/Globalist bunch running the show now, and the illegalities they are guilty of present a golden opportunity to get rid of them once and for all. For all I care they can all go to England like Benedict Arnold to live out the rest of their miserable lives, but they must be removed from government.

Trump is toast now. To much baggage. I’m riding the Ron D. Train now.

I admire DeSantis and hope he will be the Republican candidate in the 2024 election.

I think there are many everyday people who could do just that, yet we still seek those with titles & tiaras to do it instead. Isn't that why we're boiling in this hot stew of ruin right now?

Unless elections are made honest - every legal vote counted & only legal votes - it doesn't matter who runs.

I think DeSantis has been one of the best governors any state has had in recent history, but his apparent silence on completely securing vote integrity in FL bothers me. They have voting anomalies too.

Do we want pols/leaders that do just enough to look better than most others, or do we want passionate leaders who give 100+% to cleaning up the issues they campaigned & won the popular vote on?

I don't know for sure which category DeSantis resides. In my view from afar, there were two issues where he came to the party late - redistricting & the so-called 'don't say gay' legislation. The latter didn't go far enough, imo.

I wd keep a sheet w/two columns for any existing pol running for an office - Column 1: Promise Made; Column 2: Promise Kept

Honestly, if Trump runs I expect DeSantis to refrain from running. He has time on his side and that would be the smart move long term if he has aspirations to ever be President.

Ron DeSantis won 2018 Florida governor election by 32,463 votes. I know it's often said that he "barely won," but 32,463 votes is quite a lot of votes, enough so that a recount wasn't required. Florida's Senate election of Rick Scott did require a recount which Scott won.
