Ah the Brits! Seems wherever they’ve been (call it the Empire), all hell is breaking out…well, never mind! More dire is the threat of running low on Chardonnay from Chile and California, which is “bottlenecked” in the Panama Canal due to drought conditions! Panic in the aisles of Tesco !! But seriously. A very sombre discussion between GG and DM. Doesn’t bode well.
Figures... I just bought some TSCDY shares a month or two ago. :) :(
It strikes me that it is easy to FA and FO when it is not you personally, your personal economy, your money, your businesses, your lifestyle, or your status that are paying the price for your idiocy. We need to have more things like a Chardonnay index to measure just how painful things are becoming for the "elites." I suppose even then it will be worse for some (like Hillary) than others. That is OK - haha.
Now there’s an idea: a “Chardonnay pain index”! Gotta watch out - those from CA can give you a bigggg headache! Maybe better to stock up on Irish or Scottish whisky!
The Obamans in the administration support Iran. At some point there will be civil war in the administration between the Israel-lovers and the Iran-lovers.
We may be seeing something like that already. Think of the split as the Obama holdover faction v. the Hillary wing--which is more deep Neocon. We've seen reports of deep unhappiness, protest, resignations at State.
It seems like Israel is going for broke. They want to "solve" the Palestinian issue once and for all and create Greater Israel. They seriously believe they can take on all their enemies and win - and that the US will continue to give them a blank check. Despite the 2006 debacle, they seem consumed with hubris.
I don't think it, but it seems that the Israelis do. Their leaders talk as though it's still the glory days of 1967 and that they can force America to back them to the hilt. Of course, they are deluded. But hey, that's the neocon mindset for you.
Perhaps Israel, like the Deep State--as it seems--fears that Trump really will win. If he does, the likelihood that he will plunge the US into war is low. Therefore they're adopting a go for broke strategy based on the idea that they may never get such a total Neocon regime in the US again.
I think this is it. Also, they see Russia, China and Brics getting stronger all the time. In there more coherent moments, they see time is running out. Dangerous times.
So Biden just took a trip over there, right? He said he understood the desire for justice on the part of the Israelis. Did he or has he constrained the Israeli government actions in any way? Did he or has he conditioned American support of Israel or the provision of arms to Israel in any way? Even if those arms are used for ethnic cleansing against civilians in Gaza and the West Bank? Trump may or may not be amenable to the actions the Israelis have taken but there is no question, I think, that Biden has given them free rein thus far and there is no indication he will not continue to do so.
It can't possibly. That's where I disagree with Alastair Crooke's quoting of an al Jazeera opinion piece. The Russians believe the threats are a bluff. It may be an attempt to get the West to step in and force "peace" on countries like Egypt--to take in Gaza refugees. Only the US is on board.
I see Netanyahu’s propaganda as more smoke and mirrors related to Israeli Politics. And there is a part of the Israeli deep state that wants to distract from their incompetence that led to the success of the Hamas Gaza Attack.
The map of U.S. forces in the Middle East is astounding. I tried to research U.S. forces in Jordan and found vague mentions.
It’s almost like Israel is a law unto itself.
They are. They are neocons.

Horrible. When it comes to human life they don't discriminate. Everyone is equally valueless to them.

Not for nothing “Perfidious Albion” is an enduring thing.
“To one thing constant never”
Do not paste in Netanyahu propaganda here.

This is probably Israel's last best chance to take out Iran before the latter becomes too powerful. They want the US to do that for them.

Good luck with that.

It remains to be seen whether they are deluded in thinking America will back them to the hilt.
The Israel lobby is immensely powerful in the US.

You have a point, Robert. Again, pinning one's hopes on Trump for the right options is not a good idea.
