Back in the Pandemic day—it seems so long ago, somehow—we discussed a number of government sponsored exercises that simulated response to major disasters. They seemed to focus on pandemics. These exercises all featured close coordination between government agencies (including national security agencies of all sorts) and major corporations, including close control of information and “misinformation”. In other words, these exercises conjured up a vision of a future Corporate - National Security State, which used to be referred to as Fascism. Sound familiar?
Given the MASSIVE amount of money handed over to Ukraine this year, can anyone on this website offer any insight as to whether the defense establishment rationale contained in the following thread makes any sense?
Off the top of my head, I would question his comparison of the modern "defense industry" to the WW2 era one. The modern "defense industry" is heavily reliant on foreign parts and materials--especially including from Russia and China. Plus, the welfare component of government spending is totally disproportionate to previous eras, limiting our ability to build a vast industrial base. Most of the promised weapons systems is the promise of manufacture and provision in the future, due to our limited "defense industry" base. That's why we're running short on both systems and munitions to send to Ukraine.
Thanks, Mark. Yes, there seemed to be several statements in the thread that didn't quite add up. For example, the notion that Europe was now spending a lot of money for rearmament and building up their militaries. I haven't seen any statements to that effect in any journalistic source, MSM or otherwise.
If we had an *honest auditing system of the federal government, including categories such as housing, corporate accounting, a consistent and meaningful employment monitoring system, and of course money supply/ inflation, then the clear warning signs that we see might be reported and acted upon. But they aren't, and they won't be. So why are we paying these clowns?
I believe that many of them would love to be able to be even more overt about their aims. That's why they work so hard to normalize so many formerly unacceptable things. The Overton window shifts only gradually.
They can't go too fast, though, or it all falls apart.

Right. In fact, most of the European militaries are actually looking to downsize even further. Except for the Poles.
And there is nowhere to run. Here is the best there is.
Unbelievable and Shocking on Robin Koerner.
It’s surprising how that keeps on happening to my world view the last couple of years.
