There is ever only one answer to any problems of which the Education establishment is made aware. For example:

In short if the problem doesn't lend itself to being reasonably addressable by the application of greater monetary resources (i.e., increases in administrative and teacher salaries), then the problem is simply of no import - even if it was caused by the system itself.

If standardized tests were given to adults (especially in blue parts of the country), I am sure that we would find that their scores also decreased.

I wonder how the home schooled kids would do IF they took the standardized tests?

The COVID regime measures didn't just impact the education and development of school aged children, the cognitive function and performance of children aged 6 months-3 years has been shown to be reduced by 2 standard deviations.

This is on top of an educational system in deep decline. In my youth we were the best in the world. We may still be if the others have failed even worse.

These children are also not taught history (see any of Jay Leno's or Jesse Watters' "man/woman on the street/beach" interviews that were played for laughs but not aren't so funny anymore) or basic civics in addition to not being taught to read fluently or do simple math, as we were when young. What happens to society when all that remains are the uneducated/undereducated?

I work at a K-8 private school and we were back in person in August 2020 with masks. I told everyone who would listen that masks would interfere with numerous developmental processes. In the 2021-2022 school year, 25% of first graders were and continue to be behind in their reading and language development. We have seen numerous delays in grades 2nd-5th in written expression and math concepts.

Our students come from households that value education and provide enrichment in their children's lives. at minimum, 25% of households across this country do not provide educational support to their children. I absolutely agree with KD's prediction of long term economic and societal repercussions.

No mercy shown for the hearing impaired or ESL kids who rely on facial cues. Not to mention ordinary kids, for whom that is important for normal development.

But my old college buddy--a former school superintendent--thought it was just great that his two grandsons didn't even get a cold once they went back to school in 2021 thanks to the masks they wore. Hooray! Millions of kids with "educational terminal cancer"--but your grandsons didn't get a cold. Such an imbecile.

So much of the harm that’s been done will be irreversible. There’s an actual underlying hatred for humanity, and in particular it’s youngest members. Murdered before they are even born, trampled on in their development, targeted to fundamentally altar their very nature and physiology (no reproduction for you) and turned into apparatchiks to destroy society and cultures.

What we have experienced these last several years and the doom and gloom predictions give a modern meaning to the old phrase of the medieval period, life was "cruel, brutish and short."
