Went to vote at noon in a quiet Pittsburgh (within the city limits) neighborhood. No line at all.

On military technology, and our ability to manufacture war materiel, and exploding pagers,

Free trade made a lot of people very rich but it has crippled our country as a country, as a nation-state within geographical borders in North America. Borders it should be able to defend without having to always be at the ready to go on offense in any theatre of war around the world? Or is that dumb. Is there no intermediate, steady-state of national existence between being the world hegemon, and being one of many competing suppliers of consumer goods and services?

Free trade was predicated on our military being the global mall cop, capable of violent reprisal any time any where in the mall... until the world could be subdued by free trade, and the wolf dwell with the lamb, and the leopard lie down with the goat, and the calf and lion and fatling together, and a little child leading them.

Sanctions are no longer effective as a non-violent alternative to coerce behavior; see Pinkoski's essay at First Things, https://www.firstthings.com/article/2024/11/actually-existing-postliberalism.

Sooner or later reality will make itself known in the US. The gaslighting can't go on indefinitely.

“This is what the next administration faces, but could say publicly due to cope and gaslighting.” Perhaps “cannot” instead of “could”? I get what you are intent on conveying Mark! Take care out there!

Mark, my Dad is 93, he has cane and he says because of this they move him to the front of the line to vote, so be sure to ask the poll workers to allow your wife to be accommodated this way!
