Post modern conundrum where everything human can be pragmatically redefined to suit whatsoever one wants. Funnily though, physics and engineering are exempted, after all truth matters when you want to keep a plane in the air.

Totally off-thread, although perhaps not:

Mark's readers, at least those with time on their hands, might enjoy a prominent New Yorker magazine writer's take on the American Élites and their role in our national enterprise. Osnos spends a lot of time identifying the American Élite, focusing on the likes of Tucker Carlson and Josh Hawley, albeit in a mostly demeaning way. He also names such figures as Harlan Crow (whoever he is) and the Koch brothers. Even Matt Gaetz and Donald Trump!

I was a bit surprised, however, to read that Osnos (a Jewish American) does not identify or discuss the apparently enormous power of Jewish Americans as increasingly a part of the American Élite (he does mention Mark Zuckerberg and Bernie Sanders in passing), if not currently the richest and most powerful element of the American Élite.

Osnos goes on to describe the 'conservative' view of the American Élite as "the government, the media, Wall Street, and the Ivy League... the fake news, the globalists, and the ivory tower. The élite became whoever is peering down on us, judging us, manipulating us."

He then quotes Ron DeSantis, in his memoir, “The Courage to Be Free,” defining élites as those who “control the federal bureaucracy, lobby shops on K Street, big business, corporate media, Big Tech companies, and universities.”

But he never touches on the role of Jewish-American élites who wield enormous power in all of the sectors he mentions. And who seem to have played an outsize role in our wars in Ukraine and Gaza, as well as, indisputably, I think, in our woke politics, our global hegemonic aspirations, and our national dialog and politics.

If we want to understand who rules us, we can of course investigate the roles of Tucker Carlson and Josh Hawley, but perhaps we should also look more deeply into the roles of the Jewish Americans who lead government agencies, K Street lobbies, the corporate media, Wall Street, Big Tech, and the most élite American universities.

Yup, definitely a bad case of ignoring the 300 ton elephant in the room!

Basic principle of moral philosophy- a good end can never justify evil means. Emotions should never negate truth.
