Since yesterday there has been a bit of a buzz to the effect that Russia is going to start addressing the use of US/NATO drones serving to target attacks on Russian assets—both in Crimea and further inland.
It must give us great pause, listening to Macgregor, Sachs and others - who would stay the madmen in DC and Europe from going to war over “the dead puppet” of Ukraine - on the eve of the 80th anniversary of Operation Overlord, to remember that 80 years ago the Russians were our allies and sacrificed 27 million of their citizens and soldiers fighting the Nazis. Among those dug in along the Atlantic Wall were very young Ukrainian soldiers who had helped Rommel build it. They fought side-by-side with the Germans against the advancing American, British and Canadian forces. And here we are, after the sacrifices of Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno and Sword, hell-bent on enacting an old plan of Rumsfeld and Brzezinski (per Sachs on the Duran) to carve up Russia even if it leads to a nuclear exchange. How can this be? History stood on its head, seemingly without meaning. When I think of the rows of gravestones at Omaha, and the obcene and fanatical war now being dragged out for cold political calculus by a côterie of maniacs, “the spear-tip of the hegemon,” I weep.
I don't worry about conventional war. NATO has neither men or materials to fight Russia for more than a couple three weeks - that is if Russia would even let them get there. Took 8 months of staging in Saudi Arabia for Gulf War to free Kuwait of Iraqis forces. I don't think Russia will allow that.
The biggest worry in nuclear when in a fit of rage Biden pushes buttons.
Grandson just left for home--we play chess and solitaire on the computer (chess can be terribly traumatic). Heading out to the Botanic Garden again tomorrow.
B52s? They didn't scare the NVA; I doubt they'll scare the Russians. There's been a lot of chatter about possible proportional responses on Russia's part. Ron Unz, when he's not busy denying the Holocaust, has even suggested destroying NATO HQ in Brussels after a 48 hour warning. We can only hope! However, taking out US drones over the Black Sea is LONG past overdue. We've seen how Houthi and Hezbollah attacks on US and Israeli intelligence gathering tools have been an eye-opener for DC; a massive take-out of the US Black Sea drones would be an even bigger one. Time is getting short and the neocons need Mike Tyson's punch in the face fast.
Looks like Hezbollah used a pea-shooter.

Forgot the Poles and Czechs who also landed…

The last time the USS Eisenhower went further north was in April, to defend Israel against Iranian retaliation.
Is the US Navy aware of something ? Or is it simply taking distance after Yemen's attacks ? Or both ?
Mark, I hope you are getting to see your grandkids; not that it's last chance, but we all need to see life and not just all of this terminal grimness.

Can the punch in the face be televised? No pay-per-view, free to the masses!
With slo-mo replays, subtitles and extended highlights for those who missed it.
My sense is that the Washington corps is such delicate flowers that a fire in their favorite coffee house would send a scary message to them.
