I keep reading that Russia is nearing the end of their restraint. It seems to me that Russia has a larger plan, namely establishing a new economic and financial center with the BRICS. If Russia were to release the restraints, which presumably means some kind of overwhelming response that could be considered disproportionate and thus usable by the neocons to initiate a real war with Russia, there would likely not be much left of Russia to execute on their BRICS plans. Russia's current strategy seems to be working, so I wouldn't expect significant changes barring a provocation they can't ignore.

WRT the US however, there seems to be an assumption that we'll just sail through this largely as-is but with some hardships. If this assumption doesn't hold, what is our plan especially since our financial allies (basically the 5-eyes) all seem to be in decline...???

Makes sense--one war at a time. But time will tell.

Laundry list:

1. Glad to hear of your wife's progress!

2. ERIC is an amazing Dem scam integral to their election cheating. Red states were stupid (establishment?) to not see through it.

3. Can the Patriots stop the Kinzhal hypersonic missile?

4. Mike McCaul is both the physical and mental apotheosis of a DS scumbag.

5. Transhumanism is much farther along than many think. Biden's executive order--and Musk's recent press conference and Q&A session--are quite revealing.

Don't we get to vote on any world-changing stuff anymore?

Congressman Mike McCaul is one of the swampiest creatures of the Lone Star State delegation, was a Deputy AG under then Texas AG John Cornyn[holio]. Too bad the swamp was immediately refilled after the waters were lowered sufficiently for the residents to be exposed!

I think the decision to send Patriots to Ukraine is dubious for a number of reasons. I will say that the commentary I'm seeing about this bothers me. Patriot is a vastly more capable system than anything the Ukrainians have had in the past, whether or not it's a "game changer" for any given definition of that term. The Russians certainly have weapons they can use for going after these things. These include antiradiation missiles and artillery/SSM systems with ranges greater than Patriot has. That said, I have no idea what's going to happen because electronic warfare capabilities are never known until they are demonstrated in combat. To quote the old saying, "Those who know don't tell. Those who tell don't know." A lot of commentators are pretending to knowledge that they couldn't possibly have.

The Russians have some of their high end air defense systems protecting their bases in Syria but are fairly reluctant about actually using them because to do so gives useful information about them away to potential enemies, and if it turns out that the Israelis really do have their number when it comes to ECM then that's going to be embarrassing and bad for potential export sales. There's something to be said for keeping your aces up your sleeve. This is a decision we may well end up regretting. If Ukraine goes down hard, for example, I don't see having a bunch of our Patriots ending up as Russian war prizes being a benefit to national security

NATO is just the neocons' shop window. It's they who run it. And their goal is to maintain US hegemony at all costs - emphasis on "all". They will back down no more than Russia will. It's existential for both sides. Hence the danger of this whole thing.

And Stoltenberg is the mannequin in the shop window. Every time I read the quotes from that guy I think he HAS to be insane. It is one thing to say things to maintain your status/position. It is quite another to do everything you can to suggest the possibility of (or even to invite) a world war involving nuclear weapons:
