Communists never really got along with trade unions, historically, because organized labor with collective bargaining power got in the way of the revolution. Who needs a bloody conflict and complete reshaping of society when you can just negotiate for better conditions? So when the fake unions like the IWW never took off, then they had to infiltrate real unions... which goes some distance toward explaining why so many of them are just bloated parasites who collect dues without really serving their membership.

Anyway, we know who pulls Zhou's strings, and it ain't "labor".

"we know who pulls Zhou's strings, and it ain't "labor"."

Exactly. As the unions are finding out. Or at least the rank and file are learning that. The union lawyers and front office people have known that all along.

Frankly, these economic wars are our last, best chance to head off the...not even sure what term to use that doesn't sound hyperbolic. Fascist police state? Criminal Oligarchy? Is it too much to say that all of us have a patriotic duty to join the work stoppages if we're in that type of job or if we're not, to support them?

Stoppages are "our last, best chance to head off" a 1984 scenario, unless such stoppages figure to lead to the ChiComs' dream come true: mass depopulation of the US this winter.

Well you raise an interesting point. Don't you think we are in a hopelessly symbiotic relationship with China now? Our economy is largely built on getting cheap imports from them and their economy is almost exclusively built on getting mountains of trade surplus cash and investment dollars from us. There are clear indications in China now that their economy is teetering, partly due to the supply chain issues, partly energy supplies, partly Evergrande, partly command economy idiocy. The US has these huge advantages: we are self sufficient in food and energy (if the feds will allow it). A winter die off is as much a dream of the Regime in dc as in Beijing. We have no choice. Fight back or ...fascism.

Cage match is right. Such an oxymoron to describe Zhou’s demands of unions in such different ways. I’m sure Zhou will repay them (again).
