Well, they folded. Now let's see if McCarthy keeps his promises. And thank you to those patriots, who at least made a stand and reminded the "elites" that their time is coming.
I hope they got McCarthy's "promises" in writing. With the preponderance of our legislators being attorneys, they should know that no agreement is enforceable if not in writing and signed by both parties.
A lot of good points. In fact, I agree with the whole column, except: "There is a plan: defeat McCarthy’s speaker bid, and then await the panoply of speaker options who will only put their names forward for consideration once McCarthy withdraws."
If that had been the plan, an alternative candidate who actually wanted the job would have made a concerted effort to obtain sufficient support prior to the nomination process. Instead, the nominations (by appearance) were ad hoc. No, the effort was just as this author otherwise states: to restore regular order and obtain a degree of increased power for the conservative elements of the House while greatly lessening the Speaker's power. That effort, even if McCarthy remains speaker, appears to have been successful.
Agree. But although they can to a certain degree stymie the People in the elected offices, because it seems the "votes" (from the People, it should be every vote represents a true representation of that voter and that that vote is a reliable citizen + one person equals one vote. Election day should be a single day. We also need more time to scrutinize these votes-are they real, we don't have sufficient time now) are only a "part" of a election, unfortunately.
Excuse run on sentence.
We have to beat them through "grass root" efforts. They cannot resist a peaceful demonstration of voter intention for instance at school board meetings, and the votes that presumably go with that demonstration. That's why DOJ is trying to intimidate parents, they cannot allow success to spread or all their vote rigging (to an extent it's obvious when there is a rigged vote after these types of voter demonstration) is in vain or at the least very suspect. We have to be peaceful, far more than leftists, because law enforcement is so skewed at the moment.
This and cleaning up voter rolls, more supervision from all parties is a good start

Not sure I'd call this "drama", but some good points.

Irrelevant- he won't be the speaker unless Hell freezes over.
Agreed. It serves a purpose simply to get some ideas out there.
Let's hope that the 20 patriots hold their ground. McCarthy will never keep any promise he makes to them.
Trump as Speaker would be hilariously fun to watch.
