Apparently troop deployment embassy evacuation alarmism has been downgraded to "we're watching closely". I wonder whether Russia told the US that they're crossing a line with that alarmism.

Evidently, the effing idiots at the top still believe that their pansification / pussification of the armed forces has been missed by China and Russia. 8,500 troops might have a chance of holding the U.S. Capitol building against 500 unarmed trespassers, but the Katzenjammer Korps looks like a low-odds bet a few thousand miles away from its supply lines (get Mayor Pete on it!).

It looks like TPTB want to drive the remaining sane Americans to expatriate to Costa Rica. We're living in a damned Mel Brooks movie.

You wonder why, well actually I don't, the US is losing what little respect it had in the world with this most undiplomatic group of diplomats of the Zhou regime. The tripartite relationship with the US and allies able to balance the Russians and the Chinese against each other to maintain some semblance of order and peace is falling apart. Just generally, this is not a good development, and long term will likely only lead to increasingly more chaos as we further weaken our position. The US has nothing to gain and everything to lose by continuing down this path.

It's very hard to do anything like a careful, rational analysis on topics like this because (1) we are not dealing with a Regime that is acting in traditionally rational fashion-- i.e., try to conduct a rational analysis of what the policy would be for a street gang or mafia. (2) the lies and propaganda are so thick and heavy surrounding anything Russia it is almost impossible to intelligently sift truth from lies. Suffice it to say that we know very little about the real situation on the ground and can start any analysis only with the blanket assumption that whatever the US government says is a lie or distortion and the policy is per se wrong if not evil.

So, we know based on this reverse deduction that we have no real interests in Ukraine, that we are being herded toward war for the Regime's benefit and not our own, that Russia poses little or no threat to ordinary Americans but significant threat to the Woke Brigades SPOTUS might send, that Russia is going to humiliate SPOTUS and the US eventually by sheer obsequious surrender by SPOTUS, and finally there will be no return to normal or genuine friendship with Russia until the gangsters in dc are gone.

Don Surber:

ITEM 4: The Post Millennial reported, "As tensions appear to heat up in Eastern Europe and the Biden administration has issued orders for the families of US diplomats in Ukraine to leave the embassy, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky does not think there's any remotely imminent threat to Kyiv, a source close to the Ukrainian president told BuzzFeed News."

The source said, "The fact that the US was the first one to announce this is extremely disappointing and quite frankly these Americans are safer in Kyiv than they are in Los Angeles ... or any other crime-ridden city in the U.S."

Fact-check: TRUE.

Thank you very much for the superb analysis, Mark! Much appreciated.

This kind of basic, honest, level-headed analysis of the current Russia - U.S. relationship, which is critically important to millions of people, will never be found in the mainstream media for mass consumption. When I was in school Yellow Journalism was considered a bad thing; now it is all they do and even worse they do it entirely at the behest of special interests. All the more important that we now have an alternative media and sources with integrity such as yourself.

Ditto, Mark. Thank you. Now could you turn your analysis to FDA banning monoclonal antibody treatment? Is this Desantis' Rubicon?

It so happens I'm trying to work something up on that.

Where are we? Right this minute I am listening to the astonishingly feckless Pentagon spokesperson John Kirkby, who as a Navy officer was early on steered down that service’s pathway that would never ever give him command of a ship… Harris Faulkner is dismantling his flimsy arguments… Yesterday Larry Kudlow described how financial pressure could have effectively shut Russia down - removal from access to the US dollar. And shut down of Russia’s Nord pipeline.

However, I believe Trump was looking for a more constructive outcome, rather than simply "shutting Russia down". He wanted a constructive relationship with Russia with regard to China.

Kudlow’s belief was that under the present threat from Russia financial pressure would have been a more effective deterrent than Biden’s rattling sabers and sending a relatively small number of American troops. As I recall, he did not say this is what Trump would have done. He was talking about the present.

Regarding the quote about Americans doing the right thing after trying everything else, I believe that was Churchill--unless Putin also said it, but then he'd be quoting Churchill as well.
