Very brief: Longer version: UK's biggest warship, HMS Prince of Wales, breaks down off south coast shortly after setting sail for US https://news.sky.com/ ^ | Sunday 28 August | Deborah Haynes The UK's biggest warship has broken down off the south coast shortly after setting sail on what had been billed as a "landmark mission" to the United States.
Ukraine was a Hail Mary by Johnson to distract from his multiple failures including:
- Brexit
- Netzero / energy policies
- Covid
- immigration
- crime
- political correctness / wokism
Seems the uk conservative party resembles the eGOP, and is made up of elites that ignore / disrespect their deplorable voter wants and needs, and focus on their own class.
I seem to remember a news story a few months back that UK MOD spent millions developing a new tank model that turned out to be a turkey. At this point I'm rather hoping that Putin will colonise my little island country so we can have some decent leadership....I'm only half joking.
Ajax isn't a tank, it's an IFV. Yes, it's a dud., and I can't understand how it happened. I think the plan is still to go with another iteration of the Challenger MBT. I think with Challenger 3 they plan to give it a smoothbore gun (Which it should have had a long, long time ago) better armor, and something like the American Blue Force Tracker.
Astonishing post, Mark. Admiral Nelson must surely be turning over in his grave…as HMS Prince of Wales left Portsmouth, it may have passed the Royal Naval Museum which preserves HMS Victory, in which N defeated the French and Spanish navies at Trafalgar in 1805…
Finally convinced my husband to take his shares out of banking and put it into gold - it took me a year and he's going to take a hit but finally he sees what I see. The £ is too wired into the Euro and we produce nothing of significance.
Interesting comment by Luongo. I see Johnson as having done everything the WEF asked for, except Brexit:
“Davos taking out {The UK’s Boris} Johnson”

Sounds about right, doesn't it?

Yep - here's the tanked tank story:

Shitain, Shitain, Shitain; best dying empire with delusions of grandeur in the world.
Does anyone know if that thing ever got a full air wing? The plan was for some F-35s, but I'm not sure they ever got delivered.
They've got destroyers with no antiship missiles too. They were supposed to have Harpoons. Those are the Type 45s
And their army now has more horses than main battle tanks. Fact. They need them for the changing of the Guard stuff.
We have 27'000 frontline infantry. And they are pushing for women to take over combat infantry roles, so expect recruiting to vanish even more.
Don't think so Cord. The boat was supposed to putter over Stateside and take delivery of the F-35s.
Reminds me of the bumper sticker that my boyhood neighbor had on his 1965 MG: "Every part falling off this car is of the finest British craftsmanship"
How to make a failed British vessel? Just add water.
Hail Britannia...
And the Pound just hit a 2 year low vs the Dollar, but may go to a 37 year low per some models
Euro is at a 20 year low.

A sad fall for a once great navy.
I worked for HM Government - the issue is with the corruption around procurement.
It's like any monopoly: they get lazy, quality control goes out the window, and their business model becomes dependent on barriers to entry.
But when competition shows up, they're forced to reinvent themselves and reinvest in the things that made them great in the first place.
Hmm, recovering lost greatness... there must be a slogan in there somewhere..
