As a 35+ year resident of what is called the Inland Empire, Riverside/San Bernardino California, I became aware of Democratic Calls for their followers to move to Red areas to flip them. One by one they have succeeded. About 25 years ago a Woman wrote a letter to the editor about her concern of our Air Pollution. At that particular point I can attest that California Air was a lot lot lot better than it was in 1960 and thought it odd until I read the rest of her post. She told of how she had recently gotten her Degree in Sociology and how she had researched the Social/Economic outlook for the area before moving SOUTH from San Jose and was now looking to get involved with ORGANIZING. These people tell us what and when they are going to do something and are shocked when they do. If we only had an organization that made people aware of things going on in their area but THAT too died some time back, while Joseph Goebbels smiles
The business climate in Texas is better than CA, NY, NJ, IL alright, a low bar . . . BUT nowhere near as good as it should be. Our property taxes are totally, completely out of control, the faceless bureaucrat appraisers and taxing entity officials shift blame back and forth. Californians are shocked by their first appraisal notices after relocating here. Business relocations are facilitated by property tax abatement of 90% for 10 years and by public funds doled out by the Governor from the so called Enterprise fund. Practices that were once prohibited by the Texas constitution, I voted against that amendment BTW.
If and when Caterpillar moves some manufacturing to Texas let me know. Ford had a plant in Dallas that closed 50 years ago if a new one is built anywhere in Texas, again let me know. Not to mention the closure of many oil field related manufacturing plants like National Oilwell, Gardner Denver and many more in the mid 1980's. Northrup Grumman went away shortly after the B-2's were finished, yes they built a lot of the sub assemblies in Dallas.
Marriage was destroyed by no fault divorce laws of the past half century. The marriage contract should be treated in law as a life long binding agreement, the plaintiff who files to dissolve the marriage should take nothing, unless there are proven statutory reasons. A divorce should never be granted to a couple with minor children except in the worst of circumstances.
At least there has been, so far this summer enough wind to keep the lights and a/c on.
AND Greg Abbott is actually doing very little to stop the INVASION from the south.
I was surprised at the take no prisoner approach of the Ca anti Gay marriage initiative opponents. Destroying peoples lives and businesses was seen as an acceptable cost.
And the same intensity is showing in the trans fight.
The biggest surprise for me was not their hateful cynicism, but rather the fact that the mask dropped so completely with Trump's election.
"But it appears that having done so for so long, they no longer have any idea how to move forward as a party."
I think they know exactly how to move forward--with violence that elicits tacit or even overt official approval. Meanwhile, pushback to their violence will continue to bring down Thor's hammer of law enforcement on the right. They have every reason to be confident that their provocations will meet no serious resistance.
Call me naive, but I am still surprised. When you make a major gain for your cause concerning an activity which is best kept private even in the traditional marriage setting, one might be advised not to go 'in your face' and insist on broad public support. It is the surest way of losing support, and gaining antagonism from people who would otherwise be indifferent. Are you interested in private rights, or is this some sort of crusade? Politics? Similarly, having succeeded in placing Biden (An unlikely candidate. Couldn't you have picked someone more suitable for the West Wing role?) in the White House, why continue with the Jan6 and Trump law suit shenanigans? Why not mollify the opposition and even do things that might gain broad popular support?
Oh. My. Word!!! Had to watch that 3x & laughed more joyfully each time! FINALLY, a Republican who doesn't go quake underneath the bed when "KKK" is mentioned. One who isn't afraid to bring it up himself! Bravo.
Excuse me. I didn't realize anyone cd have remained oblivious to the fact that Dems have been screaming there are white supremacists waiting to pounce from near every Subway sandwich shop, NASCAR garage door, historical monument, Republican campaign bus, etc, for at least the past 6 yrs. Then DOJ, FBI & DHS trumpeting the same since Biden was installed.
Yes, it's absurd and this Republican is playing into the false charge. If his ad had shown BLM or Antifa attacking a him (better yet, a white man) at his home then that would be true and thus far more rhetorically powerful.
If Obergefell is to eventually be overturned due to lack of any constitutional basis, it will be interesting to see how such a case would be brought before the court.
Ianal, but seems to me like the most simple & direct way wd be for a state's legislature to pass a bill proclaiming that only a marriage btw a man & woman is a legal marriage in that state - my wording is awkward, but there were lots of those bills passed & enacted before Obergefell. Cd those states re-enact in light of changing wind direction?
He made a mess with Bostock that will take a long time to be unwired and torn out. I'd be surprised if it didn't take many incremental steps...which implies many years or decades.

I am confident Republicans will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Now HERE'S some culture change for ya:

As well as against Trump.
It’s uncompromising, and just plain mean.
The biggest surprise for me was not their hateful cynicism, but rather the fact that the mask dropped so completely with Trump's election.

Surprised? You can't mean that.

At the time, yes.
I had not read / understood how Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals is a blue print for the left.
“sjw always lie” was also useful for my education.
More cultural change?

Meh. White racism hasn't really been a thing for a long time.
Duh. That's more or less what Jerone was pointing out. Iow, it doesn't come from where we've been conditioned to believe it does.
The KKK is not a thing and hasn't been for a long time.

Andrew, I think you're taking this too seriously. It seems obvious that he's trolling Dems.

How about this un repealed, supposedly unenforceable, by judicial fiat, provision of constitutional law:
THE TEXAS CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE 1. BILL OF RIGHTS
Sec. 32. MARRIAGE. (a) Marriage in this state shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman.
(b) This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage.
(Added Nov. 8, 2005.)
Of course.
I wonder, given his track record in every other respect, that he naively had no clue what he was unleashing on the nation and will backtrack.
He made a mess with Bostock that will take a long time to be unwired and torn out. I'd be surprised if it didn't take many incremental steps...which implies many years or decades.

A new punch line to the old St. Patrick's Day parade joke, "What's a mile long and has an ***hole every three feet?"??
