"Think about that. Our elites enriched themselves at the expense of the rest of the country by shipping out manufacturing over to China—pretending that that didn’t mean shipping the know-how along with it. Now, having hollowed out America for their own benefit, they’re outraged that China doesn’t want to kow-tow to us anymore."

10:00 in the morning, and my blood, it boils.

I'm a 68 year old retired Injection Mold Maker. There was abundant work for us in the late 80s and 90-'s until Bill Clinton in 1997 gave China Favored Nation Trading Status, temporarily making it permanent as he skipped out the door, then went on TV and announced American had changed from an Agra/Manufacturing based Economy to a Service Based one, nobody said a word and in 30 days my work load dried up NEVER to return. I've never passed on the "Trade" as was done to me and there are damned few American Youth dying to get their hands dirty and humble enough to learn. Hugh Hewitt is one of the Conservative Commentators that was really good with this, he even suggested South Korea help build up our Navy in their Shipyards, like we don't need to have ship yards. I screamed when the last of the "{Chip" manufacturers left our shores, we've lost our independence by this, was it by design?

Interesting. It's the difference between Conservatives and Libertarians--free traders, open borders, etc.

Actually both. The thought of Free Fair Trade seduced the Conservatives, it never really occurred to them, just improving the bottom line, just doing business. The Libertarians feel similar as Free Trade is in their genes as well what nobody thought of was the Know How to actually do this stuff. I needed some oil for my Motorcycle last Sunday so I popped off the Freeway thinking on Ventura Blvd in in the Valley should have 1 Auto Parts Store, boy was I wrong. The rest of the day I tried to take note on how many are around. Mostly is Hispanics these days doing their own wrenching so parts houses are relegated to the less influential end of town. It's not a good sign, how many actual Americans that Can Do anymore? Conservatives should be for Controlled Boarders and some are happy to bring in the cheep labor, Libertarians are content with no boarders.

But who suffers the consequences? For once, dear Lord, please let it be the fantasizers/perpetrators & not us.

Ray, commenter Mary noted yesterday that they were under attack (presumably DDoS). Although I don't know, I imagine it will take some time until the impact of the attack is assessed and mitigated and the site is hardened against future attacks. I would just keep trying over the next number of days.

Thanks! I just tried to go there and somebody set up a cloudflare account.

Cloudflare is still in Russia.

Unfortunately, if I remember correctly, cloudflare has refused service to some sites if they have the wrong politics.

Unbelievable. Mr. Smith is spot on in your quote. Offshoring manufacturing and technology to China didn't make sense then and doesn't make sense now. The "service economy" idea has also never made sense. The only thing supporting doing this was a money high for the corporations and politicians followed inevitably by the long term downer for us.

"Our" elites are unrestrained, irresponsible idiots who seem intent on getting us all killed one way or another. It reminds me of P.J. O'Rourke's quote: "Giving money and power to the government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys." Sure, that may be a "cheap laughs" sort of line but it has proven quite true. The elites not only act like teenage boys but teenage boys on drugs.

If you let China run your production of your Tools they will modify them to be able to change your logo for theirs then produce the same product using your tooling then ship it to America in the same container as your products then wind up on the shelf near yours for 2/3rds the price. And there is nothing you can do about it.
