Mark, just ran into this very good piece at The Dossier’s Jordan Schachtel. NOW it’s ok to criticize Zhou??? Obviously the hounds have been unleashed - Ignominous writes:

“Biden has never been good at saying no. He should have resisted the choice of Harris, who was a colleague of his beloved son Beau when they were both state attorneys general. He should have blocked then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, which has done considerable damage to the island’s security. He should have stopped his son Hunter from joining the board of a Ukrainian gas company and representing companies in China — and he certainly should have resisted Hunter’s attempts to impress clients by getting Dad on the phone.”

Pleeeeez…

Didn't try to find out who this woman is, but what she's saying makes sense. Dems need Zhou gone quickly, Republicans? Not really.

@anniefofani

"The CIA & FBI intervened after the election of Trump. They launched Russiagate, a series of fake stories, to hamper Trump's ability to govern & to get Biden elected. That its senior management has commissioned Ignatius to call on Biden to give up can be understood as a warning."

Things are so intriguing at the moment! The Dems have a real dilemma. If they ditch Biden there would presumably be an open primary (unless they tap Kamala) which clears the way for RFK Jr - and they (or at least some them) do not want Kamala. The Obama wing of the Dems is clearly in the ascendancy so who does Obama want? And who does the cabal behind Obama want? Interesting that Obama is now being attacked - presumably by one or more of the other Dem factions. The octogenarians in the Democratic Party have created a real problem by clinging on to power for too long and failing to groom a new younger generation of corrupt Dem leaders except the completely captured AOC who is too far left and no brighter than Kamala so unlikely to be acceptable even to front a stolen election. So sad for the Dems 😉

@FreeFrench

Yes to intriguing...

...another consideration for the Obama Dems is that whoever is 'selected' must keep Obama's secrets...and he has a ton of them. Kamala is compliant, but is she electable? RFK is not sounding like he's good for that, but you never know.

Expand full comment

That’s their dilemma: anyone is who is compliant and would keep their secrets is also either too old and/or unelectable. And they’ve left it too late to launch another fake Obama ‘hope and change’ candidate. Plus he’s probably too vain to let anyone genuinely outshine him.

No. Not sad for them at all. So sad the country

Yes - I was being facetious 😊

RFK, Jr. saw what the DNC and Hillary Clinton did to Bernie in 2016 and had to know what he would be facing when he threw his hat in the ring; a totally rigged and corrupt primary 'selection' process. I can't predict if RFK, Jr. would run as an independent or how many votes he might draw from disaffected Republicans and eyes-wide-open democrats, but it could approach 10 percent even with Cornell West running on the Green ticket. Both of them running would likely bring down any Democrat ticket in the general election or require an obscene level of voter fraud for a democrat victory that could not be ignored by the courts.

What does RFK, Jr. have to lose? Would his family disown him? His age would likely prevent a future run. But from his statement he appears to have an allegiance to his supporters. And with each passing day that FJB appears in front of a camera, RFK, Jr. knows he is just one day closer to the current set of DNC rules being tossed out to allow for the next 'chosen one' to enter the race.

Is it any wonder the Democratic party is nervous?

Great comment.

I wonder how many Republican votes RFK might take away from Trump? If he is perceived as a populist without some of Trump's baggage...

Could RFK actually win a three-way among himself, Trump and Biden (or some other unlikeable Dem)?

RFK, Jr. has an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal I read this morning. He understands full well what the DNC and Democratic Party is doing and have done previously. If he went independent, I think the Donkeys would drop Biden in a New York minute. Then there is still the No Labels group that was schmoozing up to Manchin and others in addition to the already declared Green ticket candidate West. That is a lot of moving parts to try to reassemble a coalition from.

Romney is not running for reelection.

Is he thinking of the dem ticket?

Dems have a very weird delegate system that does not tie all of them to the highest vote getter in their primary. The majority are free to vote for who they choose. One of the reasons why Bernie never had a chance against the Hildabeast.

RFK Jr. won't run as an independent is my prediction, but if he were to do so, they will kill him.

And if he joins trump it’s a twofer

Trump should do the same. Run as an independent. Then maybe both wings of the Uniparty will get the message that everyone hates them.

You have to wonder if West is in it for the payoff like Bernie was in '16 to make him go away. The fly in the ointment is RFK, Jr. doesn't need their money.

" ... He cut off his satellites ..." Actually, Crimea has always been cut off on StarLink since US Sanctions on Russia were placed! When Ukraine requested StarLink activation (in the middle of the night, with armed Sub sea drones closing in on the Russian fleet), it was illegal for Elon to say OK. Just finished watching "Seven Days in May" from 1964. It was an eerie experience. The Deep State was alive and well back then, pushing for eternal war. A distant mirror.

Yup. Great movie. We'll have to watch it again...

Have I recommended here reading The Devil's Chessboard?

Its hard to escape the conclusion that the Deep State has been alive and well and metastasizing since the end of WWII.

I'll definitely look at that, Cass, maybe even tonight. I've just worked my way through the big 1970s disaster movies, so I need a bit of light relief! :) To be honest, there has always been a Deep State in all times and all places. Wherever there's been a state, in fact.

Funny you should say that…about there always being a Deep State…everywhere. I live in a small resort town in the Rocky Mountains. I just had lunch w a friend who was explaining to me about the Deep State who runs our town…because the elected officials clearly don’t.

If we're honest, we all want to control events and make things go our way. That's a part of human nature. With most of us, conscience keeps us within bounds. However, in every community there are those who have unlimited ambition and no restraining conscience. They want to have power over others and achieve their goals at any cost. This holds true whether it's my local housing committee, local government or Washington DC. Such people form the Deep State in all its manifestations and hierarchies.
